1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

   For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

Relying on God Alone - June 20 - Anne Graham Lotz

http://www.annegrahamlotz.org/category/messages-from-gods-word/joy-of-my-heart/?dd=0620

When the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, . . . the wall fell down flat. - Joshua 6:20, NKJV

God surely gave Joshua the strangest strategy for overcoming Jericho that any general has ever been given! God told him to lead his armed men in a silent march around the outside walls of the city once a day for six days. On the seventh day, they were to march around the city seven times. On the last lap, the priests in the army were to blow trumpets loudly and the people were to shout. Then the wall would collapse, and Joshua’s army could successfully capture the city!

God answers prayer, but sometimes the way He goes about it can be incredibly confusing and unconventional, which is one reason He goes about it in that way — so that our faith rests totally in Him. Then, when the answer comes, we know without a shred of doubt that it comes from Him alone and that He knows best. And we give Him all the glory.

From Why?

Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth [him with] his hand. (Psalm 37:24)

Reflection
From His undying love and grace, God sustains us in all things as we continue to trust in Him. We were firmly established in His love when He removed us from our iniquity and securely planted our feet on the Rock. Even as we stumble in this life, the Creator of the universe is there to grab hold and bring us to His side. May we commit our way to Him and see His unfailing greatness and mercy each day.

But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. (John 4:14)

Reflection
Take heart in the evident promise of your salvation: that always and forever shall your soul be filled to overflowing with abundant and eternal life! Never shall you thirst. Never shall you dry up. Never shall your soul be parched. Rather take joy in this: unto everlasting shall your heart's thirst be quenched as rivers of God's living water pour down from heaven as you bask in the glory of God's own Son: Christ Jesus.

The Inability of God to Lie - June 21
BLB: Hoekstra's Day by Day by Grace

https://www.blueletterbible.org/devotionals/dbdbg/view.cfm

Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation… In hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began. (Hebrews 6:17-18 and Titus 1:2)

One benefit of living by the promises of God is related to something that God cannot do. He is unable to lie. "It is impossible for God to lie." This "inability" magnifies His greatness and brings us great assurance.

This "inability" of God is linked here to His promises. We who live by faith are "heirs of promise." We inherit the blessings of God by trusting Him to fulfill all that He has promised to do. These promises offer everlasting life and are anchored in eternity past: "In hope of eternal life which God… promised before time began." Now, here in time and space, God wants to deeply impress us with the unchangeable character of His will: "Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel." The Lord wants to assure us that He will not declare one thing, and then later change His mind and do something else.

In order to provide us with solid assurance, God coupled His promise with an oath ("confirmed it by an oath"). People make oaths, attempting to convince others of their reliability. They swear by something greater than themselves. "For men indeed swear by the greater" (Hebrews 6:16). However, "when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, saying, 'Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you'" (Hebrews 6:13-14). This marks an amazing condescension on the part of our Lord toward us. We might say that He somewhat lowers Himself down to our level (which He would fully do in the incarnation, becoming a man). He uses a common human custom to grant us an assured understanding of His reliable commitment to us.

In this unusual communication from God, we receive assurance that is likened unto a "double certainty." The "God, who cannot lie," makes a promise and an oath, "that by two immutable things…we might have strong consolation."

Dear Lord, as one who has often proven my ability to lie, I worship You as the God who cannot lie! Your promises grant rich assurance. Your oath adds strong encouragement to rely upon You. Thank You for doing whatever is necessary to strengthen my hope in You. How gracious You are!

Today Daily Devotional
The Greatness of Christ
(from April 13, 2007)
by Jack Roeda

Scripture Reading — Colossians 1:15-23
By him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible... Colossians 1:16

It's staggering that the one who was brutally murdered only about 30 years before Paul wrote this letter--that is, Jesus--is now described as "the image of the invisible God" by whom all things were created. What in the world happened?
The resurrection happened. People say that the events of September 11, 2001, changed the way we look at the world--and no doubt they did and will for years to come. But the events of Easter changed forever the way we look not only at Jesus and the world but also at life and death, God and eternity.
We now know that Jesus is very great, that by him all things were created. It's too much to imagine. Someone has said that if you equated the distance from the earth to the sun, 93 million miles, to the thickness of one sheet of paper, then the distance to the next nearest star would be a stack of paper 70 feet high, and the width of our galaxy, the Milky Way, would be a stack 310 miles high. Our Lord Jesus created all this and so much more.
John's gospel puts it famously: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... Through him all things were made" (John 1:1-3). Then follows this shattering claim: "[This] Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us" (1:14)!
It is impossible to think too highly of Christ.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, you are so much more than any of us can imagine. Glory and honor, praise and adoration, now and forevermore be yours! We pray in your matchless name. Amen.

And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this [is] our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this [is] the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation. (Isaiah 25:9)

Reflection
After the Lord has finally swallowed up the power of death, we, His people, shall rejoice with Him evermore! Be glad in your salvation, O people of God, for as the Lord will cast off death forever, so shall He also grant life to His servants!

God is our precious Father in heaven. He brought us into His family through His only begotten Son Jesus. How sweet this reconciliation is. Not only did God provide for peace between us and Himself, but also God has caused us to become dear children, heirs along with Christ and gifted us with the earnest of the Holy Spirit. We bring our anxieties and requests to God in prayer, and then peace from God that passes understanding guards our heart.. Reconciliation has made this possible. It's no wonder eternity will be filled with thanksgiving to Father, Son and Holy Spirit for all the good plans of God that He brings to pass. Through sweet reconciliation in Jesus, God will present you before His throne holy, blameless and without fault.

Heavenly Father, I ask for Holy Spirit to continue the good work of teaching those who belong to Jesus  to be established firmly in Your word, in faith in Jesus, to not be moved or shaken from the hope of good news in Jesus. We are Your willing servants as well as Your children. We commit our lives without any reservation at all into Your powerful and good and faithful loving care. I ask this request and thank You holy Father in Jesus name, amen

19 For God was pleased to have
all of his divine essence inhabit him.
20 Through the Son, God also reconciled all things to himself,
whether things on earth or things in heaven,
thereby making peace
through the blood of his cross.
21 You who were once alienated with a hostile attitude, doing evil, 22 he has now reconciled by the death of his physical body, so that he may present you holy, blameless, and without fault before him. 23 However, you must remain firmly established and steadfast in the faith, without being moved from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

Psalm 33:1-11

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+33&version=NLT

1  Let the godly sing for joy to the Lord;
    it is fitting for the pure to praise him.
2  Praise the Lord with melodies on the lyre;
    make music for him on the ten-stringed harp.
3  Sing a new song of praise to him;
    play skillfully on the harp, and sing with joy.
4  For the word of the Lord holds true,
    and we can trust everything he does.
5  He loves whatever is just and good;
    the unfailing love of the Lord fills the earth.
6  The Lord merely spoke,
    and the heavens were created.
He breathed the word,
    and all the stars were born.
7  He assigned the sea its boundaries
    and locked the oceans in vast reservoirs.
8  Let the whole world fear the Lord,
    and let everyone stand in awe of him.
9  For when he spoke, the world began!
     It appeared at his command.
10 The Lord frustrates the plans of the nations
     and thwarts all their schemes.
11 But the Lord’s plans stand firm forever;
     his intentions can never be shaken.

When the Lord speaks to you, have you ever had joy just wash like a wave, when you realize He is here? Holy Spirit of God is here and you will never be alone.
God speaks and from Him comes love, from Him comes life, from Him comes setting all right again. With a full heart love Him back with song, love God back heart to heart

Praise to the Lord for being the help and the shield of those who trust in Him. God sees every person and knows all about each one. The Lord is the source of deliverance and He is resurrection and life. With tremendous gratefulness we will praise the Lord Jesus and love Him through eternity because nothing in this world or the next is able to break His love for those who trust in His name.

Our hearts rejoice in You Jesus, You are our true love, God. You are the source of our life and our salvation.

Psalm 33:12-22 International Standard Version (ISV)

https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+33%3A12-22&version=ISV

12 How blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
    the people he has chosen as his own inheritance.
13 When the Lord looks down from heaven,
    he observes every human being.
14 From his dwelling place,
    he looks down on all the inhabitants of the earth.
15 He formed the hearts of them all;
    he understands everything they do.
16 A king is not saved by a large army;
    a mighty soldier is not delivered by his great strength.
17 It is vain to trust in a horse for deliverance,
    even with its great strength, it cannot deliver.
18 Indeed, the Lord watches those who fear him;
    those who trust in his gracious love
19 to deliver them from death;
    to keep them alive in times of famine.
20 We wait on the Lord;
    he is our help and our shield.
21 Indeed, our heart will rejoice in him,
    because we have placed our trust in his holy name.
22 Lord, may your gracious love be upon us,
    even as we hope in you.

The steps of a [good] man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth [him with] his hand. I have been young, and [now] am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. [He is] ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed [is] blessed. (Psalm 37:23-26)

Reflection
Never shall the Lord forsake the righteous. Never shall the bride of Christ want for any good thing. The Lord is kind and merciful and will always see fit to bless His people whom He loves so dearly. Rejoice in and give thanks for the Lord's constancy! He shall never fail and we shall never be ashamed.
