1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

   For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

Grace Thru Faith
Worship Him with All Your Heart

https://gracethrufaith.com/ask-a-bible-teacher/worship-him-with-all-your-heart/

Wednesday September 28th, 2011
Q
My question concerns worshiping God. I understand that the angels worship and adore God above anything else they do and I believe we will do the same when we are with Him and I look forward to that time with all my being. But now I feel inadequate to give Him the worship He deserves. Do you have some teachings on worship that would teach me how to worship God with all my heart?

A
Worshiping God with all your heart means there’s nothing in your life that competes with God as the object of your worship. Nothing comes before Him; not your lifestyle, your possessions, your career, not even your loved ones. This does not mean you can’t have any of these things, it just means they can’t be more important to you than God is. As you can see, this is not a skill you acquire, its a love you express.

There is something you can do to accomplish this. By studying His word, you’ll learn more of the truth about Him. The more truth you learn, the more grateful you’ll become for everything He’s done for you. As you become more grateful, your spirit will align itself more with the Spirit of God. When that happens, no matter how you spend your time, the very process of living your life will be an act of worship.

Paul said, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving” (Colossians 3:23-24). “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship” (Romans 12:1).

But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. (Hebrews 3:6)

Reflection
Through the incredible faithfulness of Christ, we have admission into the glorious kingdom of God! It is by the beautiful sacrifice of Christ that we are made blameless in the sight of the Father. This unbelievable promise causes us to take heart as we hold fast to this great hope until the last day.

"You are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other!" - Revelation 3:15, NIV

I love hot, black coffee and usually have a cup beside me as I work at my desk. But I will get so engrossed in what I am doing that time will pass more quickly than I realize. Again and again, while concentrating on my work, I will absent-mindedly pick up the cup of coffee only to find it is lukewarm. I am glad I am working in private, because my instinctive reaction is to immediately spit the coffee back into the cup!

What an eternal shame it would be if my life caused the Lord to react in the same disgusted way! Yet indifference to Christ was, and still is, disgusting to the Lord! It is incomprehensible to glimpse the glory of Jesus-

The Lord of glory . . .

The Rose of Sharon . . .

The bright Morning Star . . .

and simply shrug! That’s disgusting!

What will you do, instead, to live a life that delights Him?

Reflection
The believer is most satisfied when he is most glorifying God with his life. Through his faith, God's grace works in his life to do good. Daily he is being conformed to the image and quality of the God he serves. Recognize, O Christian, whom God has made you and do well according this truth. And peace will be yours! But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,

Philippians 3:20 ESV

How sweet the feeling is to come home. When I lived out of my home state for several years, when I would visit, I loved to see the city come into view from the plane windows, whether seeing the lights of the city by night or familiar buildings by day. Now when driving over the border to the US, I still get that "I'm home" feeling every time I cross and joy comes while making the road trip to visit my children and grandchildren. Just think, when the Lord calls us to meet Him in the air, we won't have to go through customs or be delayed by traffic, we will be escorted, carried, transported home without cost to us. Best of all, we will not be making the journey alone, but the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord. We won't be going to a strange place, we will be going home. We are citizens of heaven!
Maranatha!

JVIM - June 15 - Psalm 46 - Our Refuge

https://www.jvim.com/todays-devotionals/

Memory Verse:
Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea (Psalm 46:2).

In his book, Two Thousand Hours in the Psalms, Dr. Marion Hull says of Psalm 46, “No wonder the psalmist says ‘therefore will not we fear.’ What could man do to anyone who has such a source of strength and help as this?”

He explains that refuge means “a place to go quietly for protection.” And that the Hebrew word translated trouble means “in tight places. “When we get in tight places we can go to the Lord and find a place of quiet protection.

This place of safety belongs to the children of God and is available even in convulsions of nature. One lady who slept through an earthquake was asked how she had such peace in the crisis. She replied that she rejoiced to have a God strong enough to shake the world.

Some are terrified at storms. The disciples expected to die in a watery grave during the storm that swept the Sea of Galilee. Jesus rebuked them for their lack of faith and also rebuked the wind and the waves. When they had entered the boat Jesus had said: “Let us pass over unto the other side” (Mark 4:35). His statement of sure crossing made the boat unsinkable in the face of any storm. Their fears were a waste of energy and a useless drain on their emotions. The Master of nature was on board. And in spite of their anxiety, all was well.

In all the storms of life, Christians have a refuge.

Flee to Him and leave your fears behind!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Psalm 46
For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. According to alamoth. A song.
1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
3 though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
5 God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
6 Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
he lifts his voice, the earth melts.
7 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
8 Come and see what the Lord has done,
the desolations he has brought on the earth.
9 He makes wars cease
to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
he burns the shields with fire.
10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
11 The Lord Almighty is with us;
the God of Jacob is our fortress.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (Romans 10:9)
Reflection
Our salvation is of the simplest conception. God, before the foundations of the very world He created, decided that He would give a sufficient measure of grace unto all His children—a measure sufficient for faith. And so, He saves those who exercise that gift of faith. When we confess and believe in the gospel of the risen Christ, we offer evidence that indeed, we are the chosen sons of Abraham—we are the very children of the Lord Most High!
Praise God with Confidence, There is None Like Him!
Exodus 15:11
Who is like you, majestic in holiness,
awesome in splendor, and working wonders?
Nobody, that's who! None of the god substitutes, none of the replacements that this world chooses instead of acknowledging YHWH and His Christ are like our heavenly Father. Only God's Son Jesus is the image of the invisible God. Jesus is majestic and awesome in splendour like His Father, perfectly revealing to all who have ears to hear and eyes to see, what God is like. Jesus is revealed salvation. Jesus is revealed resurrection. Jesus is revealed life. Jesus is the only begotten Son of God-yes He is.
Colossians 1: 15-16
15 The Son is the image of the invisible God,
the firstborn over all creation.
16 For by him all things in heaven and on earth were created,
things visible and invisible,
whether they are kings, lords, rulers, or powers.
All things have been created through him and for him.
We have need of endurance to be sure, but that very need is fulfilled by virtue of the promise itself. We await that long-promised eternal and heavenly rest of Christ, and yet, as all the redeemed are already secured in the heavenly promise, so their perseverance is guaranteed. For as the heaven is high above the earth, [so] great is his mercy toward them that fear him. As far as the east is from the west, [so] far hath he removed our transgressions from us. Like as a father pitieth [his] children, [so] the LORD pitieth them that fear him. (Psalm 103:11-13)
Reflection
Believer rejoice! Though of your sin-stained self you could nowise enter the presence of the Lord Almighty, yet God loves to such a degree and extent that He sent His only Son to pay for your corrupted life. His promise-not only to forgive their sins but also forget them, if His people will but ask-stands an incredible offer of mercy and grace, and is of such magnitude that the only response His child can possibly muster is one of unbounded joy! For when you were forgiven, you became the very child of God, allowed entrance into His own throne room. Again, rejoice!
Relying on God Alone - June 20 - Anne Graham Lotz
When the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, . . . the wall fell down flat. - Joshua 6:20, NKJV
God surely gave Joshua the strangest strategy for overcoming Jericho that any general has ever been given! God told him to lead his armed men in a silent march around the outside walls of the city once a day for six days. On the seventh day, they were to march around the city seven times. On the last lap, the priests in the army were to blow trumpets loudly and the people were to shout. Then the wall would collapse, and Joshua’s army could successfully capture the city!
God answers prayer, but sometimes the way He goes about it can be incredibly confusing and unconventional, which is one reason He goes about it in that way — so that our faith rests totally in Him. Then, when the answer comes, we know without a shred of doubt that it comes from Him alone and that He knows best. And we give Him all the glory.
From Why?
The Inability of God to Lie - June 21
BLB: Hoekstra's Day by Day by Grace
https://www.blueletterbible.org/devotionals/dbdbg/view.cfm
Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation… In hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began. (Hebrews 6:17-18 and Titus 1:2)
One benefit of living by the promises of God is related to something that God cannot do. He is unable to lie. "It is impossible for God to lie." This "inability" magnifies His greatness and brings us great assurance.
This "inability" of God is linked here to His promises. We who live by faith are "heirs of promise." We inherit the blessings of God by trusting Him to fulfill all that He has promised to do. These promises offer everlasting life and are anchored in eternity past: "In hope of eternal life which God… promised before time began." Now, here in time and space, God wants to deeply impress us with the unchangeable character of His will: "Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel." The Lord wants to assure us that He will not declare one thing, and then later change His mind and do something else.
In order to provide us with solid assurance, God coupled His promise with an oath ("confirmed it by an oath"). People make oaths, attempting to convince others of their reliability. They swear by something greater than themselves. "For men indeed swear by the greater" (Hebrews 6:16). However, "when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, saying, 'Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you'" (Hebrews 6:13-14). This marks an amazing condescension on the part of our Lord toward us. We might say that He somewhat lowers Himself down to our level (which He would fully do in the incarnation, becoming a man). He uses a common human custom to grant us an assured understanding of His reliable commitment to us.
In this unusual communication from God, we receive assurance that is likened unto a "double certainty." The "God, who cannot lie," makes a promise and an oath, "that by two immutable things…we might have strong consolation."
Dear Lord, as one who has often proven my ability to lie, I worship You as the God who cannot lie! Your promises grant rich assurance. Your oath adds strong encouragement to rely upon You. Thank You for doing whatever is necessary to strengthen my hope in You. How gracious You are!
Today Daily Devotional
The Greatness of Christ
(from April 13, 2007)
by Jack Roeda
https://today.reframemedia.com/devotions/the-greatness-of-christ-2007-04-13
Scripture Reading — Colossians 1:15-23
By him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible... Colossians 1:16
It's staggering that the one who was brutally murdered only about 30 years before Paul wrote this letter--that is, Jesus--is now described as "the image of the invisible God" by whom all things were created. What in the world happened?
The resurrection happened. People say that the events of September 11, 2001, changed the way we look at the world--and no doubt they did and will for years to come. But the events of Easter changed forever the way we look not only at Jesus and the world but also at life and death, God and eternity.
We now know that Jesus is very great, that by him all things were created. It's too much to imagine. Someone has said that if you equated the distance from the earth to the sun, 93 million miles, to the thickness of one sheet of paper, then the distance to the next nearest star would be a stack of paper 70 feet high, and the width of our galaxy, the Milky Way, would be a stack 310 miles high. Our Lord Jesus created all this and so much more.
John's gospel puts it famously: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... Through him all things were made" (John 1:1-3). Then follows this shattering claim: "[This] Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us" (1:14)!
It is impossible to think too highly of Christ.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, you are so much more than any of us can imagine. Glory and honor, praise and adoration, now and forevermore be yours! We pray in your matchless name. Amen.
God is our precious Father in heaven. He brought us into His family through His only begotten Son Jesus. How sweet this reconciliation is. Not only did God provide for peace between us and Himself, but also God has caused us to become dear children, heirs along with Christ and gifted us with the earnest of the Holy Spirit. We bring our anxieties and requests to God in prayer, and then peace from God that passes understanding guards our heart.. Reconciliation has made this possible. It's no wonder eternity will be filled with thanksgiving to Father, Son and Holy Spirit for all the good plans of God that He brings to pass. Through sweet reconciliation in Jesus, God will present you before His throne holy, blameless and without fault.
Heavenly Father, I ask for Holy Spirit to continue the good work of teaching those who belong to Jesus  to be established firmly in Your word, in faith in Jesus, to not be moved or shaken from the hope of good news in Jesus. We are Your willing servants as well as Your children. We commit our lives without any reservation at all into Your powerful and good and faithful loving care. I ask this request and thank You holy Father in Jesus name, amen
Psalm 33:1-11
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm+33&version=NLT
1  Let the godly sing for joy to the Lord;
    it is fitting for the pure to praise him.
2  Praise the Lord with melodies on the lyre;
    make music for him on the ten-stringed harp.
3  Sing a new song of praise to him;
    play skillfully on the harp, and sing with joy.
4  For the word of the Lord holds true,
    and we can trust everything he does.
5  He loves whatever is just and good;
    the unfailing love of the Lord fills the earth.
6  The Lord merely spoke,
    and the heavens were created.
He breathed the word,
    and all the stars were born.
7  He assigned the sea its boundaries
    and locked the oceans in vast reservoirs.
8  Let the whole world fear the Lord,
    and let everyone stand in awe of him.
9  For when he spoke, the world began!
     It appeared at his command.
10 The Lord frustrates the plans of the nations
     and thwarts all their schemes.
11 But the Lord’s plans stand firm forever;
     his intentions can never be shaken.
When the Lord speaks to you, have you ever had joy just wash like a wave, when you realize He is here? Holy Spirit of God is here and you will never be alone.
God speaks and from Him comes love, from Him comes life, from Him comes setting all right again. With a full heart love Him back with song, love God back heart to heart
13 When the Lord looks down from heaven,
    he observes every human being.
14 From his dwelling place,
    he looks down on all the inhabitants of the earth.
15 He formed the hearts of them all;
    he understands everything they do.
16 A king is not saved by a large army;
    a mighty soldier is not delivered by his great strength.
17 It is vain to trust in a horse for deliverance,
    even with its great strength, it cannot deliver.
18 Indeed, the Lord watches those who fear him;
    those who trust in his gracious love
19 to deliver them from death;
    to keep them alive in times of famine.
20 We wait on the Lord;
    he is our help and our shield.
21 Indeed, our heart will rejoice in him,
    because we have placed our trust in his holy name.
22 Lord, may your gracious love be upon us,
    even as we hope in you.
In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. (Ephesians 2:22)
Reflection
Through the workings of Christ, we are being built for the habitation of God's Spirit. What an honour to be so used by the glorious King of all creation!
The steps of a [good] man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth [him with] his hand. I have been young, and [now] am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. [He is] ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed [is] blessed. (Psalm 37:23-26)
Reflection
Never shall the Lord forsake the righteous. Never shall the bride of Christ want for any good thing. The Lord is kind and merciful and will always see fit to bless His people whom He loves so dearly. Rejoice in and give thanks for the Lord's constancy! He shall never fail and we shall never be ashamed.
For every creature of God [is] good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer. (1 Timothy 4:4-5)
Reflection
All things created by God are good beyond questioning and He gives to us out of His bountiful mercy! Let us receive His gifts gladly with thanksgiving and consecrate them through prayer.
For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of [his] good pleasure. (Philippians 2:13)
Reflection
Praise the Almighty King! May all glory be given to the Father who is conforming us to His righteousness. In spite of our wicked sin nature, God takes great joy to mold our hearts into His beautiful uprightness. For we are also promised that every good work in us comes from Him for the purpose of His honour (Hebrews 13:21).
As far as the east is from the west, [so] far hath he removed our transgressions from us. (Psalm 103:12)
Reflection
My prayer: Father, I stand in complete amazement of Your unrelenting love for Your children. Thank You for the blood of Your Son and the eternal grace that You pour out upon us. It seems so unbelievable that You choose to remove and forget our many transgressions against you. Yet You do just that! Make us worthy of Your remarkable mercy and grace.
