On either the Weather Channel &/or Fox News, I took notice of this aerial view video showing the lava flow that's in the shape of a dragon. Did you folks too, notice that video? Wonder IF the trumpets heard over Hawaii, could very well tie in to the warning about either the eruption of that volcano, or what's about to take place over in Israel?

Please, just think about this possibility. OK!?

I don't know about the rest of you, but I am so glad that I don't live in Hawaii!!

And with that said, thank goodness it's lava that's spewing out of the volcano and not pyroclastic surges. You can outrun lava; you cannot outrun a pyroclastic flow.

I too, am very glad to that I don't live in Hawaii either, Kathy. THE question remains, however, about just where would one run to? The sea?

I'm glad that Pastor J.D. Farag doesn't live on the main island, but that he, his family & congregation, live on the Island of Oahu. But even Oahu may also have volcanos as well. Yes?

That volcano isn't through yet, Kathy. I learned only just THIS morning, that it may turn into still yet ANOTHER Krakatoa-type volcano; spewing rocks as huge as the largest bolders. Wonder if the main big island of Hawaii will be no more, or what!?

Explosions intensified on Hawaii's Kilauea volcano on Tuesday, spewing ash and sparking a red alert for aviation for the first time since the latest eruption began 12 days ago.

Ash and volcanic smog, or so-called vog, rose up to 12,000 feet (3,657 meters) above Kilauea's crater and floated southwest, covering cars on Highway 11 with gray dust and sparking an "unhealthy air" advisory in the community of Pahala, 18 miles (29 km) from the summit.

An aviation red alert means a volcanic eruption is under way that could affect aviation by spewing ash into air routes, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) website.

Ash was also a new hazard for residents of Hawaii's Big Island already dealing with volcanic gas and lava that has destroyed 37 homes and other structures and forced around 2,000 residents to evacuate.

A shift in winds was expected to bring ash and vog inland on Wednesday and make them more concentrated, said John Bravender of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

"We're observing more or less continuous emission of ash now with intermittent, more energetic ash bursts or plumes," said Hawaiian Volcano Observatory Deputy Scientist-In-Charge Steve Brantley on a conference call with reporters.

Ash is not poisonous but causes irritation to the nose, eyes and airways. It can make roads slippery and if emitted in large quantities could cause electrical power lines to fail, said USGS chemist David Damby.

wow Kathy. I didn't know how fast that was. a pyroclastic flow can get past 400 miles/hr!

I only just learned when watching the Weather Channel this morning, that still yet ANOTHER 23rd fissure opened up from Hawaii's Kilauea Volcano, and that a man was seriously injured by a flying molten lava rock. And then these Hawaiian citizens should get ready to leave in a moment's notice too.

Hawaiian officials on Monday said they were responding to reports of lava from the Kilauea volcano nearing the Big Island's geothermal plant, which could result in the release of dangerous gases and mandatory evacuations.

Hawaii News Now reported that no wells at the 815-acre Puna Geothermal Venture’s property were threatened, but warned that if lava reaches a well it could cause the release of hydrogen sulfide, which is a dangerous gas.

The Puna Geothermal Venture, known as PGV, is a "geothermal energy conversion plant bringing steam and hot liquid up through underground wells," according to the Hawaiian Electric Company. It provides 25 percent of the power to the Big Island, Reuters reported.

Valerie, Kathy & All--

I didn't know this until only this last Wednesday, of 9/05/2018, that my Uncle Gary #2 & Auntie Carol, also live on the Big Island of Hawaii. My DSIL, Char, told me that they live on the NW part of the island, and far from the volcano itself. Whew!!!

But, what I forgot to ask Char, was what about the nearest airport to they live nearest to...so that they can very easily make their escape, should they too be forced off of that island as well. Surely, there must be a nearby escape route they can take, if need be so. Right?

Your guess, Kathy, is as good as mine. Right now, the Weather Channel are keeping their eyes on hurricanes...that seem to be all lined-up like planes on a runway. Hurricanes Florence (out over the Atlantic Ocean) & Olivia (out over the Pacific) are the two that they're keeping their eyes too.
