There is a saying that when you see Christmas decorating and supplies in the stores, you know Thanksgiving is around the corner, coming sooner.
At some point, we know from scripture that a temple will be rebuilt in Jerusalem. The antichrist will one day enter the temple and claim to be god (little g for him :speaking_head_in_silhouette: he will speak blasphemy). Ezekiel gives detailed specs of a new temple in chapters 40-47. Chapter 47 talks about water flowing from the building eastward and the area it waters. In chapter 47-48 are about future boundary of Israel and allotment of land to the tribes. When the earthquake of Zech 14:4 happens, the landscape will change. Perhaps all are in error now about the exact location. I don't know, but the fact people are looking for the site, is encouraging to me that the time of the Lord returning is drawing near. The rapture happens before the return of Jesus to rule, so like knowing Thanksgiving is coming, when we see what will be in tribulation days, we know our catching to be with the Lord is sooner.
There has been exploration with findings suggesting it was at the current temple mount, while other exploring points to it being at the City of David by or over Gihon Spring.
