1 Thessalonians 4:15-18
For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Reflection
In the same way that God delivered His people in times of the Old Testament and broke their chains, He also delivers His people in the age of the church. For those whom God has saved, they have been eternally liberated from their enslavement to sin.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, your mind, and your soul! (Deu 6:5) For He is ever the rewarder of those who seek Him! Ever will He sustain you and ever will your life be caught up with His, from life to death to glory everlasting. Praise His name and rejoice in the bounty of His hand!

What an awesome promise! Right now, Christ is preparing a heavenly place for us! How gracious is God for not only allowing us into heaven, but also giving us our own place, one that Jesus Himself has created! And when our time on earth is done, He will come to take us home.

Despite the constant weakness born about in our human frailty, the Lord is the strength of they who call Him Father. Though men are doomed to fail when pressing forth in their own strength, God is always faithful to present His children with the vigor needed to reign as princes in the heavenly kingdom. Trust upon Him! Look to His power! Seek His kingdom before your own! Glory in His promise to love and protect you as His bride!

Through the cross of Christ and our vicarious life in Him, we who believe are become the children of Abraham. And so, we are made heirs in Him through His righteousness. All His promises are become ours and we are become a great people, a great kingdom, and inheritors of the great heavenly land. More so, we are granted the Spirit of faith! How fortunate are we who have embraced the cross by faith! The mercy of the Lord is ever on our side. When Paul wrote that he could do all things through Christ, we have to understand it in light of his circumstances. Paul declares that he could find contentment (and even joy) in every situation. Though we may not be in the most desirable place, we should find contentment and joy, knowing that Christ will give us the strength to get through anything.

Ours is a life of struggles, of hardship. Daily we feel the earthly futility of that curse brought low upon us by that first sinful act of Adam. Sorrow is the constant companion of all who dwell in the earth. The world is at odds with us and will ever seek to trample us under foot. If the world is against us, then who can possible be for us? Take heart, O believer, for the Lord is with you-and if the Lord is for you, how can anyone possibly stand against you? Christ has overcome the world and even now reigns upon the throne of His heavenly city. Rejoice in your citizenship in the kingdom of God and go boldly into the world proclaiming His peace making men of all tongues to be disciples of Him!

God gives this promise to His people-that no matter what happens on this earth, God will always love us and walk beside us. There is nothing that can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:38-39).

Obedience is very important in the kingdom of God. Christ begins this conditional statement by stating that those who are obedient to His commands will abide in His love. Then Christ refers to the ultimate example by comparing this principle with the relationship that He has with His Father. Obedience results with a promise of a supreme reward: the abiding in Christ's infinite and eternal love.

Our Lord is of infinite holiness. He stands in light unapproachable. He will be glorified in all who stand before Him, whether by their edification or by their destruction. Praise the mercy of our great God and Father that while we were yet sinners and bound for destruction, Christ died for the redemption of we who are His sheep! Glory and honor be His! Christ had earthly family members, yet here He defines those who are His true family: it is we who hear the word of God and put it into practice. Paul affirms this idea in Romans 8:17 by saying we are joint-heirs with Christ. So believe and go forth living righteously, knowing that you are of the family of God.

How can we doubt the abundance of gifts from our heavenly Father? We who are steeped in the ways of wickedness still are able to recognize good gifts. How then can we imagine that God, who is good beyond measure, would give us less than every spiritual blessing? Here the author calls us to hold fast. We must remain strong in the faith! However, our strength comes from our merciful Father alone; for He has promised to be faithful to us. God has promised to never leave nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5) and as we hold fast to the faith, He will strengthen our hands.

Reflection
God has shown compassion to us. When Jesus saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion, even to the point of crucifixion. Because of Christ's atonement, God has "tread our sins underfoot"-obliterating their power through Christ's blood. Our iniquities have been cast into the depths of the sea, showing how our sins have been taken completely from sight. This is a promise given to us who have believed on God for salvation.

Even now the believer tastes the fruit of this glorious promise. Since our life and soul are caught up in the very life and soul of our Lord Jesus Christ, we gain every conceivable blessing! And as even now we are reigning at the Lord's right hand in the heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6), so then shall those who are of the name of the Lord reign in majesty and honor at His glorious coming! The earth is a haven for darkness and the things that lurk and creep. Foul is the world and thick is its shadow. The dim murk of this fallen land threatens all that is living and fair.
