Hurricane Matthew is once more a Category 4. Its winds have risen to 140 mph (the worst winds are confined to the eyewall). The pressure's dropping, and it's moving northwest at 14 miles per hour. They're predicting 5 to 9 feet of storm surge. The hurricane is moving toward Florida now, and will approach the Florida coast tonight.

114 people are dead so far, 108 people of them in Haiti.

Hurricane Matthew is nearing Florida. The death toll has risen to at least 289 people across the Caribbean (with 283 killed in Haiti). The Weather Channel's calling it a killer hurricane now. Life-threatening hours lie ahead, according to that cable channel. The sustained winds are at 130 wpm as of now. 11.2 people are in a hurricane warning, and 10.1 are in a tropical storm warning. 2.5 million people could lose power in Florida alone.

The death toll, Kathy, has now risen to 290!

A Florida woman suffered a fatal heart attack b/c of Hurricane Matthew, but I don't recall where she died. I do know, however, that the Weather Channel just now reported her death a while ago.

Let's hope it does not rise much higher because people were foolish enough to try to ride the storm out!

It's a Category 3 storm now. It's expected to reach South Carolina by tomorrow.

Hurricane Matthew now has been downgraded to a Category 1, and he's "still" going strong as he travels up the eastcoasts of SC & NC. His wind gusts seem to be getting stronger, as the tide rolls in.

Which leaves me to believe that God is controlling Matthew, as He takes him up the coast. Betcha 10-1 that you believe that too?

I know. One of them died of a heart attack because paramedics couldn't get to her.

Edited to add that Hurricane Matthew made landfall at 11 a.m. EST (10 a.m. my time) in South Carolina.

As of now, the death toll here in the United States has risen to thirty.

Fortunately, these two were not among those who were killed.
