Strikes hit a building used as a prison in the al-Zaydiya security headquarters in the western port of Hudaydah, security and medical officials say. The city is under the control of Houthi rebels, who have been battling the government since 2014.

A strong earthquake has struck near Norcia in central Italy, destroying numerous buildings. It comes nearly two months after a major earthquake killed almost 300 people and destroyed several towns. The quake early on Sunday measured 6.6, larger than August's quake and aftershocks last week. It is thought to be Italy's most violent in decades.

Australia asylum: Arrivals by boat face lifetime visa ban
Australia has unveiled tough new plans to bar any asylum seekers who try to reach the country by boat from ever being able to enter. The lifetime ban on visas would apply even to those travelling as tourists, for business, or who married an Australian. Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull said the move would send "the strongest possible signal" to people-smugglers.

Netanyahu to visit 3 states never-before visited by sitting Israeli PM
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced at Sunday's cabinet meeting that within the next three months he will travel to four countries, including three where no sitting Israeli prime minister has ever visited: Australia, Singapore and Kazakhstan. The fourth country is Azerbaijan, a strategic country on Iran's border. Like Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan is a majority Muslim country.
