Along the U.S.-Canada border, an invisible but hardening wall rises

STANSTEAD, Quebec — For some folks living in a cluster of small towns straddling the U.S.-Canada border here, life could not feel more comfortably secure.

Six Canadian and U.S. checkpoints service the 2½ -mile stretch that cuts through the villages of Derby Line and Beebe Plain in Vermont and the town of Stanstead in Quebec. Street cameras, satellite and sensor surveillance, vehicle patrols and the occasional thumping helicopter overhead ensure that residents can’t budge without someone watching.

It’s no wonder that many don’t bother to lock their doors.

“We really feel safe,” said Laurie Dubois, 56, an American living on the Canadian side. With the cameras and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, she noted, “there’s not a whole lot of bad stuff going on.

But the heightened security is a sign of the times that doesn’t sit well with all of the residents in these once close-knit cross-border communities tucked into the northern highlands of the Appalachian Mountains.

“It’s a pretty pain in the ass is what it is,” said Patrick Boisvert, 75, a machinist in Beebe Plain with a mathematics degree from St. Michael’s College in Vermont.

Surveillance has grown stricter and more intrusive all along the 3,900-mile lower U.S.- Canada border since Sept. 11, 2001, creating a continent-wide gulf that many argue reflects a political parting of ways, as well — American conservatism vs. Canadian socialism, as defined by Canada’s universal health care, maternity leave, tough gun laws, and subsidized day care and higher education. But the burden borne by the Vermont-Quebec communities is unique. Residents linked by marriage, blood relations and, in many cases, dual citizenship are now separated by an invisible but hardening wall. Neighborhoods that once shared schools, sports facilities, doctors and churches in a kind of free-flowing human commerce have retreated to their own sides of the border.Nowhere is the divide more apparent than along the 620-yard stretch of Highway 247 — called Canusa Street in Vermont and Rue Canusa in Quebec — where Boisvert has lived all of his life.

On Canusa, the border runs east-west more or less right down the middle of the street. Drive on the north side, going west, and you are in Canada. Drive east and you are in the United States.

I knew that God was merciful and when He asks us to pray to avert something, it never happens. I know that. It is a rock solid belief in my heart. He wants to stop something so He asks for prayer and then stops it. So I knew in advance I would be open to ridicule from not only my enemies but from the skeptics and weaker listeners on our channel. But I also knew I could not let My God down, I had to speak what I knew to be the truth.

The posture of prayer is what I am asking for in this moment. Do all you can to pray repentance for these nations and the world. My Father’s hand is held in abeyance by prayer. Even the prayer of a little child lifting up their heart to the Father is heard, in fact it is heard even better than most adults.

We are being formed in the image of Christ, bloody Crown and all, just so He will easily recognize His Bride when He comes. In the meantime, we have new swords, shields and mighty weapons of warfare to bring down strongholds and gifts to bring in new converts because Our Lord always uses our suffering to increase the kingdom of God. Ezekiel had a striking dream a few hours ago. It left a very strong impression that we need to be seriously ready for the Lord to come any moment AND to pray for our country and the world, SERIOUSLY.

The Lord has alerted us to prayer, not once, but several times in the last couple days, by Walid Shoebat, Still Small Voice - Clare, & dreams from other Christians.
We should always take it seriously, when the Lord asks for prayers.

Thanks be to God, that the good Lord warns beforehand, to pray, and stay alert.
We are on the edge of eternity. Many have died, and many more will during the great tribulation. Our hope is in the our Lord, Jesus promised to come and take us to where the Lord has prepared a place for us.

Lord protect, all my Sisters and Brothers in Christ; please continue to pray for one another. Pray for your country, the world, and especially, for innocent people,
in harms way.

Remember the Lord longs that none should be lost and spend eternity in Hell.
Pray, that many will repent of their sins, and accept the Lord as their personal Lord and Savior.

Lord have mercy on your own, keep us safe, until Jesus comes to call us to "Come Up Here" and take us to our Heavenly abode. Amen!

'Islamic extremist' Omar Mateen, 29, from Florida, shoots dead at least 50 at Florida gay club

Writing on Facebook, Pulse, which described itself as the most prominent gay club in Orlando, urged party-goers to 'get out and keep running' as bullets started flying at around 2am local time. Orlando Police Chief John Mina said the suspect exchanged gunfire with an officer working at the club around 2am, then went back inside and took hostages. There were about 320 people inside the club at the time of the shootings and about 100 people were taken hostage.
