1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

Damascus

Damascus has been attacked and bombed; it is become or becoming the "ruinous heap" foretold in Isaiah 17.

Prayers to our Abba Father for the survivors, family members to be drawn to the Lord Jesus.
Father God has not forgotten the people of Syria, there are prophecies yet to be fulfilled. In Isaiah 19, we learn that a day is coming when Assyrians have turned to the Lord and finally are at peace with God, Israel, and Egypt.
Ezekiel 32 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ezekiel+32:21-23&version=ISV
in Zechariah 10 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Zechariah+10&version=ISV
Zephaniah 2:12-14 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Zephaniah+2:12-14&version=ISV
Nahum 1 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Nahum+1%3A1-13&version=ISV
Micah 5, Ezekiel 31 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Micah+5%2C+Ezekiel+31%3A1-18&version=ISV

the key to peace for Syria is in knowing the only true God, accepting His Son Jesus as Lord and Saviour
Isaiah 19:22-25 International Standard Version (ISV)
22 The Lord will strike Egypt with a plague, striking but then healing. Then they will turn to the Lord, and he will respond to their pleas and heal them.
23 At that time, there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will come into Egypt, and the Egyptians into Assyria, and they will worship with the Assyrians.
24 At that time, Israel will be in a triple alliance with Egypt and Assyria; they will be a blessing in the midst of the earth.
25 The Lord of the Heavenly Armies has blessed them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel my inheritance.”

Re: Damascus

Regina,

Yes we should pray for these people, who have lost their families, homes, etc.
It's the Christian way, therefore, let us bring our prayers unto the Lord.

End time Prophecies are being fulfilled now, at an accelerated rate now, and Damascus is a major one indeed.

I think we are closer than ever today to the fulfillment of the Rapture and the Great Tribulation period coming upon the whole world and it's inhabitants.

Look up our redemption draws nigh.

Maranatha!

Re: Damascus

Damascus hasn't been rendered permanently uninhabitable yet, though, and until it is, that prophecy will not be fulfilled in full.

Kathy,
It looks like it wouldn't be that long now, that it will be rendered permanently uninhabitable. A great part of it has been been destroyed already, and it could be a matter of just days or hours, when it will be no more.

Look up our redemption draws nigh!

yes Kathy, something yet will happen with Damascus. Destruction continues to frequently happen; the people who remain in the city are in such terrible situation. Yet the prophecy says that it won't be inhabitable. I think the church is with the Lord when this happens because, verse 7-8 says men will look to the Holy God of Israel. If repentance happened while the church is still here, they would be joining the church, but the verses are about Jacob being defended by the God of Israel when the nations come against Israel-verses 12-14.

This morning looking at Isaiah 17, there are clues to timing where it is written "at that time" in verses 4, 7, 9, 11.

"At that time" something about Jacob changes because the verse says that Jacob's glory fades
verse 4: “At that time, Jacob’s glory will have become weakened,
and his strong flesh will turn gaunt;
5 it will be as if harvesters gather standing grain,
reaping the ears by hand,
or it will be as if grain is harvested
in the valley of Rephaim.
6 Nevertheless, gleanings will remain in Israel,
as when an olive tree is beaten—
two or three ripe olives left in the topmost branches,
four or five left among the branches of a fruit-filled tree,”
declares the Lord God of Israel.

"At that time" men look to the Holy God of Israel. The unbelieving in Syria and Israel don't do this now, so something happens to change hearts and spiritual direction.
verse 7:7 At that time, men will look upon their Maker, and their eyes will honor the Holy One of Israel.
8 They will not look upon the altars, the products that their own fingers have made, and they will have no regard for Asherah poles or incense altars.

In verse 9, the word says about cities abandoned because of the Israelis. This verse is not yet, so again, something happens more. The verses in Isaiah 17 are not fulfilled yet, but with all the damage going on and the military build up at Saudi, Turkey, Syria, the financial and military backing of Iran, Russia, western nations that want Assad gone, I think we are seeing the circumstances that lead up to the fulfillment. If this is something that God does, a judgement that shows He is the living God, rather than an action from Israel, then it is easier at least for me to understand. I say that because of verse 4 where the glory of Jacob is weakened and the strong flesh turns gaunt. If God was to manifest Himself with judgement upon Israel's enemies in response to them attacking Israel, this might be how verses 4-6 are fulfilled and why men will look to the God of Israel- because they have just seen that He really exists and He is very powerful. The fear of God will be in these who have witnessed what has happened, so they forsake idol worship.
verse 9:“At that time, their fortified cities
that they abandoned because of the Israelis
will be like desolate places of the forests and hilltops—
there will be desolation.
10 For you have forgotten the God of your salvation
and have not remembered the Rock
that is your strength.
Therefore even though you plant delightful plants,
sowing them with imported vine-seedlings,
11 at the time that you plant them,
carefully making them grow,
the very morning you make your seed to sprout,
your harvest will be ruined
in a time of grief and unbearable pain.”
12 “How terrible it will be for many peoples,
who rage like the roaring sea!
Oh, how the uproar of nations
is like the sound of rushing, mighty water—
How they roar!
13 The nations roar like the rushing of many waters,
but the Lord will rebuke them,
and they will run far away,
chased like chaff blown down from the mountains
or like thick dust that rolls along,
blown along by a wind storm.
14 When the evening arrives, watch out—sudden terror!
By morning they will be there no longer!
So it will be for those who plunder us
and what will happen to those who rob us.”

"At that time" will happen because the Lord has spoken it.

Valerie,

I bet it just breaks Jesus' heart seeing this misguided little girl's worship of the AC, and crying about him leaving office, doesn't it? Don't you wonder what Jesus will do about these misguided kids whom are led to worship the this way?

Anyhoo, this is just my food for thought
