1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

More than 57,500 left without power in Yorkshire, County Durham, Tyne and Wear and Northumberland due to storm
Temperatures at Heathrow Airport reached a sweltering 36.7C yesterday, making it the hottest July day on record

But humidity triggered rain and lightning overnight with hailstones the size of 'golf balls' lashing the north east

More thunderstorms forecast for today and could disrupt play at Wimbledon where showers are expected by lunch

Hailstones the 'size of golf balls' and fierce lightning storms which have been battering homes across the north of England could cause disruption at Wimbledon today as forecasters warn heavy rain will hit the south of the country later today.

Less than 24 hours after the UK saw the hottest July day on record, thunderstorms ripped tiles from homes and left more than 57,500 homes without power in parts of North Yorkshire, County Durham, Tyne and Ware and Northumberland.

Forecasters expect rain will begin to fall in the capital and south east during this afternoon and warn the stormy conditions could last until Saturday - with a weather warning for heavy rain in place for all of England and Wales tomorrow.

It comes after temperatures hit a scorching 36.7C (98.1F) at London Heathrow Airport yesterday afternoon, making it the warmest day in the country for 12 years and prompting health officials to warn people to stay out of the sun as Britain became hotter than Barcelona and Athens.
