Islamic State seizes more than half of Syria

The Islamic State has seized more than half of Syria after taking full control of the town of Palmyra and its ancient ruins, activists said Thursday. The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the extremists had seized more than 36,000 square miles of the country and had also taken control of "the vast majority" of its gas and oil fields. USA TODAY could not independently confirm the information.

Hi Valerie,

I think Paul Begley got the story about the Iranian embassy from Debka file. I was checking their web site and I could not find that story so I am not sure if it happened.

However the latest development are major.

I'm not surprised that ISIS' blowing up of the Iran Embassy isn't on the news--PERIOD!

It seems to me that the major news channels (except perhaps CNN) aren't interested in covering this just yet.

Also, as I was listening to Paul's report...thoughts of Isaiah 17 came to mind, and just when it did - it seemed that he & I were harboring the very same thought about Damascus becoming a ruinous heap.

Oh how I wish that we could hear from Paula Marie about this latest news, regarding Syria.
