1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

U.S. and partners launch airstrikes in Syria against Islamic State

SURUC, Turkey -- The United States and partner nations launched their first airstrikes against Islamic State militants in Syria, as fighting raged Monday between the extremist group and Kurdish forces near the border with Turkey, triggering a surge of tens of thousands of refugees.

The Pentagon said a mix of fighter jets, bombers and Tomahawk missiles fired from ships in the region targeted the Islamic State group. Pentagon Press Secretary Rear Adm. John Kirby said that because the military operation is ongoing, no details could be provided yet. He said the decision to strike was made early Monday by the military.

The strikes are part of the expanded military campaign that President Barack Obama's authorized nearly two weeks ago in order to disrupt and destroy the Islamic State militants. The U.S. has already launched 190 airstrikes on Islamic State targets in Iraq since an aerial campaign began Aug. 8.

As the fighting in Syria has moved closer to Turkey, the government is facing increasing pressure to step up efforts to take on the Islamic State extremists.
Turkey is resisting because it fears that arming Kurdish men to fight the group could complicate peace talks with Turkish insurgents within its own borders.
The Islamic State group's offensive against the Syrian city of Kobani, a few miles from the border, has sent 130,000 refugees to seek safety in Turkey in the last few days. The conflict in Syria had already led to more than 1 million people flooding over the border in the past 3 1/2 years.

But in addition to the refugee crisis, hundreds of Kurds in and around this city near the frontier have clashed with Turkish police, who fired tear gas and water cannons. The Kurds say Turkey is hampering their efforts to let them cross into Syria and help their brethren.

Airstrikes by U.S. and Allies Hit ISIS Targets in Syria

Here's an update for today, Tuesday Sept. 23,2014

"Fair Use for Information & Educational Purposes'

WASHINGTON — The United States and allies launched airstrikes against Sunni militants in Syria early Tuesday, unleashing a torrent of cruise missiles and precision-guided bombs from the air and sea on the militants’ de facto capital of Raqqa and along the porous Iraq border.

American fighter jets and armed Predator and Reaper drones, flying alongside warplanes from several Arab allies, struck a broad array of targets in territory controlled by the militants, known as the Islamic State. American defense officials said the targets included weapons supplies, depots, barracks and buildings the militants use for command and control. Tomahawk cruise missiles were fired from United States Navy ships in the region.

The strikes are a major turning point in President Obama’s war against the Islamic State and open up a risky new stage of the American military campaign. Until now, the administration had bombed Islamic State targets only in Iraq, and had suggested it would be weeks if not months before the start of a bombing campaign against Islamic State targets in Syria.

Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates took part in the strikes, American officials said, although the Arab governments were not expected to announce their participation until later Tuesday. The new coalition’s makeup is significant because the United States was able to recruit Sunni governments to take action against the Sunni militants of the Islamic State. The operation also unites the squabbling states of the Persian Gulf.

The strikes came less than two weeks after Mr. Obama announced in an address to the nation that he was authorizing an expansion of the military campaign against the Islamic State, also known as ISIS.

World War 3 One Piece At A Time: The US & Five Arab Countries Begin Airstrikes In Syria

World War 3 One Piece At A Time: The US & Five Arab Countries Begin Airstrikes In Syria

Airstrikes have begun in Syria. Five Arab Nations have joined in the attacks on what they say is ISIL. Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Qatar, Bahrain, and the UAE. One of the Joints Chiefs of Staff, Martin Dempsey is quoted as saying the coalition came together quickly over the last couple of days, and that Obama would not sign off on the campaign unless or until the Arab countries signed on. He’s quoted as saying: “We now have a kind of credible campaign against ISIL that includes a coalition of partners.” (More)

Russia is condemning these attacks as they do not have the support of Assad. Russia has loudly backed Assad since the beginning. Ban Ki Moon spoke with Putin who told him that air strikes in Syria should not be carried out without the consent of President Assad. Putin also said recently that any such strikes would be a gross violation of International law. He doesn’t dispute that ISIl needs to be stopped he disputes the fact that Assad has been kept out of the loop. Quote from RT: “The Syrian government was willing to cooperate in coordinating strikes on Islamic jihadists, which the country has been battling for over three years, but US officials rejected any possibility of such cooperation. Any strikes on Syrian soil without Damascus’ consent will be considered an act of aggression, Syria has warned.” (More)

What does this mean for the Syrian people? They trusted Assad to protect them, but when the Syrian regime moved out of villages these barbaric rebels moved in and killed everything that didn’t convert. The west has armed, trained and funded these rebels in what they say was a move toward defeating a tyranical leader and provide democracy to the people. The people have suffered untold persecution from these rebel groups. What freedoms they used to enjoy are gone, and they are starving or grieving the loss of life and home. And this will be better? It’s being reported by Al-Monitor that the Syrian people would rather see Assad participating in this campaign, but the US and it’s Arab coalition are refusing. But there are reports that Kerry and Obama both are considering partnering with Iran? Really? Russia is left behind kicking and screaming that Assad’s government and forces are not a part of this. So what is this campaign really about? The people of Syria or the removal of Assad?

Pray for the people of Syria. Pray for the innocent, pray for God’s mercy.

'This is only the beginning': Pentagon reveal how dozens of smart bombs have blitzed ISIS in Syria and tell terror group more missiles are on their way

The U.S. and Arab strikes on militant targets in Syria overnight were 'only the beginning' of a 'credible and sustainable, persistent' coalition effort to degrade and ultimately destroy ISIS militants and other extremist groups, the American military has said.
The airstrikes - which employed U.S. Tomahawk missiles, B1 bombers, F16, F18 and F22 strike fighters and drones - was backed by support from Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Jordan and the UAE - a coalition of nations that has agreed to assist with the destruction of ISIS.
There was also a separate U.S. attack on a different band of Islamist militants in Syria - the mysterious Al Qaeda-affiliated Khorasan Group, who are said to have been planning an 'imminent attack' on a Western target.
'I can tell you that last night's strikes were only the beginning,' Rear Admiral John Kirby, a Pentagon spokesman, told reporters. He said the strikes had been 'very successful' and would continue, without going into further detail on future operational plans.

Another military spokesman, Lieutenant General William Mayville Jr., said that Arab nations - including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates - took part in the second and third waves of attacks. He said the Arab countries' actions ranged from combat air patrols to strikes on targets.

Earlier U.S. President Barack Obama said the participation of the five Arab nations 'makes it clear to the world this is not America's fight alone.'
