1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

RARE Event been Happening, Right here, Which I Have Never Heard of Before.

You're not going to believe this, but something happened yesterday,
and has been happening. This is the first I every heard of it.

The area where my Son lives, and Daughter as well, and the area I live in.
they have been having Frost quakes...that's right Frost Quakes..I have lived
in Toronto most of my life, I came over from Europe when I was 2 years
old, I have never heard of or experienced anything like it. This is a first.

My Son and Daughter said they were loud crashing booms on their roofs & walls in their separate houses shaking their homes. The sound was so loud that it woke up woke my daughter & son in law from their sound sleep at 3:00am.. It sounded like someone was storming their house with a huge bulldozer trying to break though their walls and roof, tearing the house down.

It also woke our Son & daughter-in-law, they thought someone was trying to break in with a battering ram. It happened several times as they both live in different cities.

This happened several times, and many people experienced it, overwhelming the police with so many calls from people reporting it where they lived. Some thought they were gun shots, others said they sounded like explosions etc...many reports were filed.

Apparently this is a RARE event that happens when the water freezes and then thaws out, and then a sudden freeze again, the water is trapped just beneath the soil, freezes up quickly and it starts to stretch and breaking cracking, and shaking the earth...!

Thank God we didn't experience it so far, however, yesterday was the coldest day yet a record -34....The street cars (trolleys) some froze up and couldn't move anywhere and had to been taken off the roads because the lines were frozen, and they couldn't run. They found some fire hydrants the water froze up no water and fireman couldn't get water to put out fire.. these are just a few things..

Tomorrow is suppose to be around 2 degrees a warm up for here, then Monday back to freezing temperature back to minus again. This winter is turning out to be a monster so far, and it's only just begun.

I dread what the next couple of months will bring, as it gets even colder.

I feel like I'm one of the frozen chosen, in Toronto. Who said there is global warning? Come on down here and you'll change your mind really quick.

Oh for an early Spring, LOL, I can dream can't I!!!

Valerie

P.S. We spent Christmas Eve at our Son's home and at that time there were booms and bangs, we thought it was just ice thawing off the roof and falling off, however, we weren't sure. Apparently these were frost quakes,as well, but not as loud then, as they were now. I suppose they got stronger, and louder as well.

Come on Spring...!

Hearing loud bangs in southern Ontario? It was likely an 'ice quake'

See Video report at site below:

Residents across Toronto and beyond are reporting being awoken early Friday morning by loud booms, which experts say were frost quakes.
Frost quakes, also known as cryoseisms, occur after precipitation and bitterly cold temperatures.

“Ice can be very rigid at cold temperatures, and as it expands it’s trying to find room for itself and it can build up tremendous pressure,” Cathy Woodgold, a seismologist with Earthquake Canada, told CTV Toronto on Friday.

Woodgold said the pressure will often result in ice breaking or buckling, producing a loud sound and sometimes shaking ground.

“And if you’re close to it, it can be like an earthquake,” she said.
Woodgold said, however, that people shouldn’t be worried for their safety as frost quakes are not dangerous.

Nevertheless, the sounds were unfamiliar to many, sparking concern and widespread discussion on social media.

Cont. George Tudos of the Peel Regional Police said that early Friday morning the force received more than 100 calls.

“Everyone described it differently and that was why it was hard to categorize the calls we received,” he said. “We responded to all these calls and they were all unfounded. And after speaking to more people and witnesses we came to the determination they were these frost quakes.”

Tudos said he believes frost quakes were the cause of similar sounds that alarmed residents on Dec. 26, that also resulted in numerous calls to police.

CTV Toronto reporter Naomi Parness described the first loud boom at around 3:45 a.m. in the Vaughan area "like a large object hit my roof, almost like a wrecking ball went into the house."

She ran out of bed to make sure her children were safe and looked out the window to see if she could see anything.

She heard another two huge booms shortly thereafter, then more around 6 a.m.
"All my neighbours heard it, it was impossible to sleep through it and it sounded like it was coming from the house. I have never heard a sound like that," she told CTVNews.ca

One man wrote in an email to CP24 that he heard the first boom between 12:30 a.m. and 1 a.m. ET in the Maple area.
"We though it may be something fall on the roof, or someone trying to break in. Then after we heard so many. They were sounded like loud bangs at several intervals. What it could be? But we couldn't sleep the whole night," Kalpesh Shah wrote.

Tweets to @CTVToronto from residents of Rexdale, Belleville, Schomberg, Richmond Hill, Newmarket, Kleinburg, Stouffville, Ajax, Oshawa, Brampton, Orangeville, Keswick all related similar stories of booms overnight, some even into Friday morning.

One Tweeter in Bolton, @bradgraham33, described the sounds he heard at 12:30 a.m. and 5:45 a.m. like “two train boxcars hitting each other.”

Another Tweeter, @MCooke2013, described the 2 booms in Schomberg sounding as though "a beam in the house broke it was so loud."

Another Tweeter reported hearing four bangs overnight, forcing him to check his home for intruders.

Similar noises were reported north of Toronto late earlier this week and on Christmas Eve. In the GTA, the temperature dropped to about -23C overnight with a wind child of -35.

Dave Phillips, senior climatologist with Environment Canada, says a wet 2013 coupled with cold temperatures in December has made it an ideal time for frost quakes.

“It’s the perfect storm for these ice quakes or frost quakes,” he told CTV News Channel, adding that people are more likely to hear the noises at night as sound carries further. “It’s sort of like nature yawning and groaning.”

Val
I had a chuckle reading that. Who would have thought some one would describe two degrees as 'warming up'? It' s 43'celsius here, I feel like a lobster. Wanna swap?

Cheers mate.

Damian

Re: RARE Event been Happening, Right here, Which I Have Never Heard of Before.

Damian,

No thanks, from one extreme to another, I just wouldn't do too well.

Don't want to be a Frozen Popsicle on a stick, or a Roasted Lobster either.

Just give me a nice Sunny Spring Day, with a warm breeze, blowing through the trees and grass, with clear blue skies, and birds singing near by in the trees.
So looking forward to Spring, even though it's still a ways to go until then.
Right now I'll go back to shivering; need some hot cocoa.

Re: RARE Event been Happening, Right here, Which I Have Never Heard of Before.

Hot cocoa sounds good to me! I had some earlier.

Re: RARE Event been Happening, Right here, Which I Have Never Heard of Before.

Val and Kathy,

I hope you both enjoy your cocoas. I'll have a lemonade or iced tea with you. I do hope things warm up for you. Being cold is miserable. Hot is bearable, and you can always swim or cool down in a shopping centers air conditioning...and the beach is free too if you're close enough! And one should recover from sunburn better than frostbite...you just have to dodge the skin cancer. Nope, I've got it better although I'm hanging out for better weather too. I'm looking forward to our winter which you'd probably laugh at and call summer weather. Lol!

God bless you and keep you warm!
Damian

Re: RARE Event been Happening, Right here, Which I Have Never Heard of Before.

Where do you live, Damian? I'm curious.

Brrr, it's cold here in my bedroom, even though I've got my heater on! The Weather Channel's "Local on the 8s" says that it is 12 degrees outside, and that the wind chill is 0. We're under a hard freeze warning until 9 a.m. and a wind chill advisory until noon. The high today is supposed to be 28, and then there's supposed to be another hard freeze warning from midnight tonight until 9 a.m. tomorrow. Definitely a good day to stay home and stay inside!

Re: RARE Event been Happening, Right here, Which I Have Never Heard of Before.

It's getting really cold out there now. Today Jan. 7th, is suppose to be negative -40 degree Celsius which is equal to negative -40 degree in Fahrenheit, which just happens to be a coincidence. This is what the weather woman reported as the forecast. Talking about a Polar Vortex, which in some places can reach up to negative -70. I don't know has anyone survived in such frigged weather as -70?

Please Lord, I pray the power will stay on so that we can have heat and light.

Hoping God will have mercy and see all people whom have to endure, come through safely.

Jesus said, I am with you, even to the end. Thanks be to God!

God Bless,

Valerie

Re: RARE Event been Happening, Right here, Which I Have Never Heard of Before.

Hello frozen ones!

Kathy, I live.in Queensland Australia about an hour from the coast. I had the privilege.of travelling to both the US and UK last year and after.seeing the state things in each continent I can appreciate.the difficulties winter must bring. I did harbour the desire to see Texas and inland America however we hired a car and didn't make it that far given time constraints. I can say, like.a tourist visiting any country, that we saw things that amazed us as well as disappointed us. I wanted to see a bear (from inside a car!) and I thought African Americans would be much taller.

The shops.are different (bigger and better and far cheaper) and I found Americans to be wonderful conversationalists and generous people. I aslo got glimpses.of.the wilder side of the community when we rather naievely drove through the 'wrong' suburbs. It was a wonderful education and the.people made it great!

After seeing what I saw in the various communities I can appreciate the Americans concern over the state of their nation. I am very fortunate to be Australian. We have our problems too but so far we have been very insulated nationally from the woes, cultural, economic and otherwise that currently afflict your great nation.

The UK is wonderful too and has its problems but I feel more for my American brothers and sisters in Christ. I think you guys are doing it tougher.

And on top of these things...you have to deal with the cold. I have it bloody good in comparison.

I never got to see my commonwealth cousins in Canada but given how.similar to home the UK felt I suspect we would have loved it. And they have bears.too! And ice skating! Which is an elusive feat of balance.and graceful.athleticism that I have not mastered!

Anyhow the short version is I pray that winter, though tough, will be bearable for you and that until the rapture occurs, you can keep rugged up and toasty whilst holding out for spring.

Cheers mates and God bless you.

Damian (seeking shade and shelter from the baking sun).

PS. I tried ice skating.recently (at some indoor place) and discovered despite.my deluded aspirarations that I possess absolutely no talent for it. I can't wait to try again. I reckon its the closest I'll ever come to flying (without a plane) until Lord Jesus.calls us home. It's awesome, just a painful apprenticeship when your illusions of grace are stolen from you very publicly by gravity and lack of co-ordination!
