WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. and Russian officials agreed on Friday on the need to convene a long-delayed Syrian peace conference in Geneva as soon as possible, but they offered no concrete plan to bring the warring government and rebels to the table.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters after five hours of political and security meetings in Washington that officials from the two countries will meet again by the end of the month to prepare for the Syria talks.

He said much of his meeting with Secretary of State John Kerry was devoted to Syria and both men agreed they needed to convene a so-called Geneva 2 conference "as soon as possible."

Asked whether this conference would in fact ever happen, Lavrov said that Russia already had won the agreement of its ally the Syrian government to send a delegation to Geneva without any preconditions.

"John Kerry assured me that the opposition would be persuaded to come to Geneva without any preconditions on the basis of reaching agreement with the government," said Lavrov.

A U.S. official briefing reporters after the talks, which also included Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and his Russian counterpart Sergei Shoigu, said Washington was working closely with the Syrian opposition but the onus was on Damascus.

"The test is not whether the Syrian government will come to Geneva," the U.S. official said. "The test is whether the Syrian government will come to Geneva prepared to negotiate the transition of full executive powers to a transitional governing body."

Moscow and Washington have been trying since May to organize an international peace conference to bring an end to the violence in Syria that has killed some 100,000 people in two years. But hopes that it can take place soon are fading quickly.

Of the many shadows that signal the soon-coming Rapture of the Church and the seven years of tribulation, there is one event that is a surer sign than all the others. Yes, there is an event that signals the first day of the 7-yr. tribulation. The Bible says:

"And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease....." (Daniel 9:27).

If this so-called peace treaty w/Syria (what happened to the fulfillment of Isaiah's prophesied Isaiah 17:1 ) does occur... will our Rapture be the next prophetic fulfillment?

It will not be the covenant with many, if it does occur. That covenant will be with Israel, and it will officially start the Tribulation. Therefore, it cannot take place till after we're gone. So what this peace treaty with Syria means, I have no idea.

He'll not only make a covenant with Israel but with MANY....,

27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing [of the temple] he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him."

There will be many that the antichrist will make a 7 year covenant...scripture states it plainly above.

Peace covenant with Syria, could be one of the many...but we don't leave until the covenant is make with Israel.

Uh, actually, it's the other way around; the covenant with Israel is not made until we leave. Since it's that event which officially starts the Tribulation, and since the Tribulation cannot begin while the Restrainer is still here, we will have to be Raptured before that fateful covenant can be confirmed.

Actually, I don't think so!!! I believe, when they say peace and safety, that will be when the covenant is confirmed with Israel. THEN, sudden destruction will come...Sudden destruction & Rapture simultaneously, as the tribulation will begin with the confirmation of the covenant with Israel.
This is what I have believed all along, and stand firm on it.
Therefore, when we hear the confirmation of a 7 year covenant with Israel,
that is our exit sign; which looks like it may happen any day now.

Confirmation doesn't mean signing it either, it means agreeing to the terms of it. The signing can take place after we are gone.

Well, whichever is the trigger point, the signing or the confirming, it cannot take place while the Church is here. The Church has to be gone before the Tribulation can begin, and that trigger point is what officially commences that 7-year period. So we have to be out of here before that trigger point arrives!

I surely hope that the two of you ladies watched today's JVIM program, b/c Rexella & Jack Van Impe touched on this very same topic. Infact, the two of them sounded very serious. Not even did they share any jokes/or cartoons either.
