Dedicated to God  the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit
1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

   For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

More Rapture related songs

This one was written by Albert E. Brumley (1929). It's titled--"I'll Fly Away", and here are the lyrics...

Some glad morning when this life is o'er,
I'll fly away.
To a home on God's celestial shore,
I'll fly away.

I'll fly away, O Glory,
I'll fly away.
When I die, Hallelujah, bye and bye,
I'll fly away.

When the shadows of this life have flown,
I'll fly away.
Like a bird thrown, driven by the storm,
I'll fly away.

I'll fly away, O Glory,
I'll fly away.
When I die, Hallelujah, bye and bye,
I'll fly away.

Just a few more weary days and then,
I'll fly away.
To a land where joy shall never end,
I'll fly away.

I'll fly away, O Glory,
I'll fly away.
When I die, Hallelujah, bye and bye,
I'll fly away.

Re: More Rapture related songs

This one is titled--"Farther Along" with all five complete stanzas to this song. Here they are...

Tempted and tried will oft' me to wonder
Why it should be thus all the day long;
While there are others living about us,
Never molested, though in the wrong.

Chorus:
Farther along we'll know more about it.
Farther along we'll understand why;
Cheer up my brother live in the sunshine
We'll understand it all by and by.

When death has come and taken our loved ones
Leaving our homes so lonely and drear;
Then we shall wonder how others prosper
Living so wicked year after year.

Often I wonder why I must journey
Over a road so rugged and steep;
While there are others living in comfort,
While with the lost I labor and weep.

Faithful 'til death, said our loving Master,
A few more days of labor and wait;
Toils of the road will then be as nothing,
As we sweep through the beautiful gates.

When we see Jesus coming in glory;
When He comes from His home in the sky;
Then we shall meet Him in that bright mansion.
We'll understand it all by and by.

Chorus:
Farther along we'll know more about it.

Blessed Assurance

Lyrics: Fanny J. Crosby (1820-1915)
Music: Phoebe P. Knapp (1839-1908)

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His spirit, washed in His blood.

Refrain:
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Saviour all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Saviour all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Perfect submission, all is at rest;
I in my Saviour am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling

Lyrics & Music by: Will L. Thompson

Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling,
Calling for you and for me;
See, on the portal He's waiting and watching,
Watching for you and for me.

Refrain:
Come home, come home;
Ye who are weary come home;
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
Calling, O sinner, come home!

Why should we terry when Jesus is pleading,
Pleading for you and for me?
Why should we linger and heed not His mercies,
Mercies for you and for me?

Time is now fleeting, the moments are passing,
Passing from you and from me;
Shadows are gathering, deathbeds are coming,
Coming for you and for me.

O for the wonderful love He has promised,
Promised for you and for me!
Though we have sinned, He has mercy and pardon,
Pardon for you and for me.

Re: More Rapture related songs

Here's another song--To God Be The Glory with words by Fanny Crosby & Robert Lowry (wonder if he's a descendant of Mark Lowry?), and music by W. Howarde Duane. For it too, has a Rapture reference as well. Here are the lyrics...

To God be the glory, great things He has done;
So loved He the world that He gave us His Son,
Who yielded His life an atonement of sin,
And opened the lifegate that all may go in.

Refrain:
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father, through Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory, great things He has done.

O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood,
To every believer the promise of God;
The vilest offender who truly believes,
That moment from Jesus a pardon receives.

Refrain:

Great things He has taught us, great things He has done,
And great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

NOTE: Hymn based on: John 3:16,17; John 14:6; 1 Corinthians 15:51-52,53; Luke 23:42,43.

Tammy, thanks for posting this. It brings back good memories. I had the opportunity to go back and finish university and get my degree in my 40's. So happened it was at Dallas Baptist University where the mascot was the American Patriot. Our student union building was built like a replica of Independence Hall in Philadelphia complete with a copy of the Liberty Bell. The school song was "To God Be The Glory". Wonderful school that is truly giving God the glory through all that it does.

One other great thing about Dallas Baptist - there is a room in the library dedicated to Corrie Ten Boom, one of my heroes in the faith. The woman who was her last secretary and traveling assistant before she died is on their Board of Directors and donated all the items from her private collection. When I saw that room I knew I was right where God wanted me to be. That song brings it all back and reminds me that even without a visual cue, God has us where He wants us to be in this life. Bloom wherever that is guys and gals!

Re: More Rapture related songs

"To God Be the Glory" has long been one of my favorite hymns, ever since I was a child.

Have you all noticed that so many of the best hymns were composed by Fanny Crosby?
