1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

Parable/joke- thought provoking

An unwise man once prayed to God to deliver him from a flood.
Later a man came to him begging him to climb on his roof to stay above the rising water....he didn't listen to him and said "God will deliver me from this flood".
A second man saw the man waiting for God to save him and said "hop aboard my boat and you will be saved"..... The man waiting for God to save him said "God will save me"... He refused the mans help and died drowning. He went to Heaven and saw Jesus... He asked Jesus "why didn't you save me?" Jesus answered " I sent your neighbor to help to get on his roof and I sent a man on a boat. You refused my help and didn't understand the signs I gave to you".

This isn't directed to anyone specifically but saw this quote or paraphrase in a movie and it made me think. Why can't most people understand God answers prayer according to his will and when he does he gives us signs we should not only listen but obey him.

Re: Parable/joke- thought provoking

Eric,

I agree with you, God does answer prayers according to His will. After all Jesus taught us how to pray The Lord's Prayer "Thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven". We must be obedient to God's will, and once we surrender to His will, amazing things begin to happen.

Even Jesus when He prayed in the Garden of Gethsheme, He prayed Father let thy will be done!

Thank you for bring this to our attention.

For in the end, the Lord turns all things for our good!

Thanks be to God!
