1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

Tremors continue to hit Christchurch

"Fair Use for Information & Discussion Purposes"

CHRISTMAS is off to a shaky start for Christchurch residents, with no sign of aftershocks easing up for the festive season.

Re: Tremors continue to hit Christchurch

Valerie,
While our family was at my dad's house yesterday afternoon, he showed us some pictures he took from their recent vacation in Australia and New Zealand. I saw some pictures of damaged buildings in Christchurch that they saw. My dad said that a lot of the city was cordoned off as unsafe, and you couldn't go just anywhere you wanted to. He saw some of the roads looking wavy, which was the result of the earthquakes. Some of the buildings that weren't really damaged are going to be demolished anyway because the ground below the buildings are mush. Apparently, Christchurch is built on a lot of fill, so now a lot of the ground there has become too mushy and unstable for building any new buildings on. I just thought I would add this extra bit of information about Christchurch. God bless!

Re: Tremors continue to hit Christchurch

Kevin,

Thanks for sharing further information in regards to the devastation at Christchurch! Wow, it's actually worse than it's being reported! I feel for the people living there, with one quake after another, the stress must be overwhelming!

Surely through all these Quakes at ChristChruch God is saying Church wake up, and stay awake, the Coming of my Son Jesus is imminent for His Bride!

Maranatha!

God Bless!

Valerie

Violence of tremors stuns experts

Expand Yesterday's quake knocked out a further portion of the western wall of Christchurch Cathedral. Photo / Geoff SloanEarthquake experts were surprised by the violence of the newest tremors beneath Christchurch, with reports showing ground acceleration far greater than expected for magnitude 5 and 6 quakes.

Four quakes of magnitude 5 or greater hit yesterday, the largest one a magnitude 6 which occurred 10km north of Lyttelton, and only 6km deep in Christchurch's hard basaltic rock.

The faultline of the largest quake was estimated to be 7km to 8km long, and its rupture caused the earth to slip about a metre.

University of Canterbury geologist Mark Quigley said the magnitude 5.8 earthquake generated ground accelerations of 1g in New Brighton, on the eastern side of Christchurch.

This meant the buildings in eastern suburbs were thrown up and dropped with the same acceleration a stone would have if dropped from a person's hand.
