1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

Humility restores sanity (& vice versa); Black Friday + 7 years (Nebuchadnezzar?)

We all are infected by sin. We all want "our" way to prove correct above
someone else's and that, in itself, is pride and sin. Very subtle sin.

When you take apart King Nebuchadnezzar's 2nd dream - Daniel 4 -
where he was driven from mankind for "7" years until his sanity (and
humility) was restored, he FIRST went to the "wise men of his kingdom"
who could not interpret his dream even though Daniel had already proven
accurate before. The king probably wanted "his" people or "his" friends
to prove themselves and "his" ways to be right and not have to go to Daniel.

It's amazing that many of us have built "one way walls" that will accept
what our own "denomination" or a "certain" leader says and will actually
FIGHT so as to prove that he (though a man) CAN'T BE WRONG!!! In other
words - NO interpretation of scripture OR SIGNS - can be done "outside"
those walls. Therefore, man "feels" more comfortable and asleep.

King David had problems with "people" most of his life. He was the
VERY last chosen of his father's sons. They mocked him before he
killed Goliath (which just showed what a low position he had in his
family). And really, about the ONLY reason many people put up with
him was probably because he FINALLY did become king.

David wrote:

Psalm 119 (NIV1984)
81 My soul faints with longing for your salvation,
but I have put my hope in your word.
82 My eyes fail, looking for your promise;
I say, “When will you comfort me?”
83 Though I am like a wineskin in the smoke,
I do not forget your decrees.
84 How long must your servant wait?
When will you punish my persecutors?
85 The arrogant dig pitfalls for me,
contrary to your law.
86 All your commands are trustworthy;
help me, for men persecute me without cause.
87 They almost wiped me from the earth,
but I have not forsaken your precepts.
88 Preserve my life according to your love,
and I will obey the statutes of your mouth.

If you and I are NOT willing to "let God judge" our enemies, it's probably
because we WANT SO BADLY to be proved correct. And it is a VERY,
VERY hard lesson to learn!!! It took King Nebuchadnezzar "7" years to
learn that his "# 1" enemy was his own heart!!!!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm..................................

1 Peter (NIV1984)
7 The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray. 8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. 9 Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. 10 Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. 11 If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

Suffering for Being a Christian

12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. 14 If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. 15 If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. 16 However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. 17 For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And,

“If it is hard for the righteous to be saved,
what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?”

19 So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.
