1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

The Parable of the Ten Virgins

The Parable of the Ten Virgins
“Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’ And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open to us.’ But he answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

Anyone able to explain this parable? Or do you have a good link/video you could provide that explains it well?

Pastor JD made some interesting observations in his Bible Prophecy update yesterday.
-All ten became drowsy and slept
-All rose and trimmed their lamps
-All the lamps did have oil in them, but the foolish ones' were going out
-The oil could be bought
-The wise ones went into the marriage *feast*

I really want to understand this parable better.

Re: The Parable of the Ten Virgins

The marriage feast takes place following the wedding itself, according to ancient Jewish wedding customs. I've been told that it'll take place at the beginning of the Millennium.

Who are the 10 virgins?

Re: The Parable of the Ten Virgins

thank you! I'll be watching this later on today. :)

Re: The Parable of the Ten Virgins

I always liked to listen to Perry Stone's teaching. I guess it is impossible for everyone to agree on everything, but I was so disappointed when I ordered his set of CD's on the rapture and found that he believes many Christians will be left behind. He thinks that only those who are pure will go. In my opinion that eliminates pretty much everyone as only the blood of Jesus makes us pure enough to stand in God's presence.

In regard to the Wedding Feast or party, I have also heard many say that it is at the end of the seven days that the bride and groom spend together. Then they come out and celebrate with family and friends. That would put it at the end of the tribulation and just before the millenium reign of Jesus. The virgins are not the bride, they are the bridesmaids and guests at the wedding feast. That would be all born again who came to God for salvation either before the beginning of the church age or during the trib. Just my opinion based on what I have studied and heard other teachers say.

Re: The Parable of the Ten Virgins

And a viewpoint with which I fully concur. I will not be watching these videos for this reason.
