1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

When Does The Day Of The Lord Begin?

This is yet another study from Corey. May we soon be caught up in the clouds with Jesus!

"For Your Discernment"

When Does The Day Of The Lord Begin?

I will make this short and sweet because my lack of time. I would like to display “biblical” evidence of when the day of the Lord will begin. I believe God is a master mathematician and a grammatical master as well. He uses certain words and phrases in certain parts of his word to reveal secrets to those who study. In this short study, I will present to you “3” separate scriptures that reveals the “exact day” that the day of the Lord will commence in the very near future. The 3 scriptures are as follows:
Zephaniah 1:16
“The day of the Lord is a day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.”
Joel 1:15
“The day of the LORD is at hand, and as destruction from the Almighty shall it come.”
1st Thessalonians 5:2-3
“For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.”
“For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.”
In examining these scriptures closely, we can see it reveals the exact day of the rapture:
Zephaniah 1:16 is inspired by God to call the day of the Lord a “day of the trumpet and alarm”
On the surface, this is trivial, but when you examine the word of the Lord down to the tee, even grammatically, it reveals a whole lot more.
Why is he inspired to refer to it as a “day of the alarm”?
Well, the word “alarm” in this verse is none other than the Hebrew word “Teruah”, which is the EXACT word that is used to describe God’s 5th holy day in Leviticus 23:24-25. In those verses, God declares the 5th feast to be a day of “blowing of trumpets”, which literally means “Teruah”!!
I ask you, why in the word would God inspire the Hebrew word for the feast of Trumpets in his inspired description of the day of the Lord given to Zephaniah? The reason is because God embeeded that word inside this prophetic scripture to let us know that the day of the Lord will commence on a future Yom Teruah, it is as simple as that!
Why else would God use the Hebrew word for the feast of Trumpets (Yom Teruah) in Zephaniah 1:16 which describes the day of the Lord? He is telling you that day (Yom Teruah) is the day of the trumpet and alarm (Teruah). So, when Zephaniah says “The day of the Lord is a day of…” he is saying the day of the Lord is the “day of Yom Teruah”, the feast of Trumpets. Meaning, the future day of the Lord biblically MUST begin on this feast day!
The prophet Joel tells us of the day of the Lord ““The day of the LORD is at hand, and as destruction from the Almighty shall it come.” We know that “scripture confirms scripture”. So I will take you to another scripture that explains this verse more in detail:
1st Thessalonians 5:2-3
“For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.”
“For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.”
Paul says of the day of the Lord, that it will come as “sudden destruction”. The prophet Joel echoed this long before by saying it will come as “destruction” from the almighty. Both describe the day of the Lord coming as “destruction”. Paul furthers it by saying it will come as “SUDDEN destruction”.
What does this mean?
He tells you in the verses prior:
“For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.”
The day of the Lord comes as a “thief in the night”. I think that pretty much explains why it is sudden. It is because a thief in the night comes “suddenly”, without notice to those asleep. We know that Jesus comes in the rapture as a “thief in the night” as well to those that are spiritually asleep (unsaved). So, the day of the Lord comes as “suddenly”, as a “thief in the night” and Jesus comes “suddenly”, as a “thief in the night”….
Knowing this knowledge and the fact that the day of the Lord is the “day of the Teruah”, we can factually say that the day of the Lord begins with the rapture of the church…
ON YOM TERUAH!!!

The Rapture will occur on a future Yom Teruah!

Re: When Does The Day Of The Lord Begin?

Thanks Kevin

Interesting study CJ, thanks!

I have always believed that the Rapture and Sudden Destruction went hand in hand. For when we least expect it, it will happen! Just like when we least expect a thief to break into our homes! It also states in scripture that those whom are watching will not be unaware, that something is about to happen, in this case the Rapture!

Blessings in Jesus,

Valerie

<< 1 Thessalonians 5 >>
King James Version
1But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. 2For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. 5Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night. 8But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation. 9For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. 11Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

12And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; 13And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves. 14Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. 15See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. 16Rejoice evermore. 17Pray without ceasing. 18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 19Quench not the Spirit. 20Despise not prophesyings. 21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22Abstain from all appearance of evil.

23And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
