1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

Anders Behring Breivik
Wikimedia CommonsAnders Behring Breivik, who committed the massacre in Norway on Friday in which over 90 people were murdered, spoke out in the past against Islam and said that he is a strong supporter of Israel, Channel 2 News reported on Sunday.

According to the report, in an English document he published on the Internet before the massacre, Breivik called himself a strong supporter of Zionism, praised Theodor Herzl the founder of Zionism, and attacked the European political establishment because he saw it as being anti-Israel.

Breivik commended Israel for not giving most of the Muslims who live under its control civil rights, as opposed to the various European countries. He also praised Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu for including the Yisrael Beiteinu and Shas parties in his coalition.

Breivik also quoted a series of Israeli professors such as Itamar Rabinovich and Eyal Zisser in the document. He also specifically mentioned Arutz Sheva and the leftist Haaretz newspaper.

“It’s time to end the stupid support for the Palestinians and begin to support our cultural cousins – Israel,” Channel 2 quoted Breivik as having written in the document.

Meanwhile, Norwegians on Sunday were struggling with Breivik’s mega-terrorist attack, especially his cold-blooded method. After setting off a bomb outside the prime minister’s office in Oslo, he entered a summer camp on which a conference for the youth wing of Norway’s ruling Labor party had taken place.

Pretending to be a police officer checking security after the Oslo bombing, Breivik reportedly told the campers, “Come over and play with me” before opening fire and indiscriminately gunning down anyone in his gun sight. The screams of children helped him located them in the darkness.

Israeli President Shimon Peres sent a special condolence letter to the King of Norway and the Norwegian people on Saturday after the attack.

“The people of Israel are shocked and share the grief of the people of Norway on the despicable murder of innocent civilians and innocent youth,” Peres wrote. “Our hearts are with the bereaved families who have lost that which is most dear to them. We pray for the speedy recovery of the wounded.”

Churches leader calls Norway rampage 'blasphemous'

Churches leader calls Norway rampage 'blasphemous'*

GENEVA (AP) --- The head of the world's largest ecumenical group accused
Norwegian gunman Anders Behring Breivik of blasphemy Monday for citing
Christianity as a justification in his murderous attack on government
buildings and a youth camp that left dozens dead.

Elizabeth Amundsen, 16, gathers with thousands of people in Oslo,
Norway, at a memorial vigil following Friday's twin extremist attacks.

In an online manifesto published shortly before Friday's attack, Breivik
styled himself a Christian conservative fighting against Marxist
conspiracies and the perceived Muslim colonization of Europe.

"It's important to say to all Muslims wherever they are, in Europe or
elsewhere in the world, that these actions in no way can express what is
our Christian faith and our Christian values," Rev. Olav Fykse Tveit
told The Associated Press. "It is blasphemous to make that kind of
connection."

Tveit, who is himself Norwegian and the general secretary of the World
Council of Churches, said the Nordic country was still in shock over
what had happened, and many of his countrymen were seeking churches for
support and answers.

"The churches have been open. Pastor and deacons have been available for
conversations," he said.

Tveit, a pastor in Norway's Lutheran Church, said religious leaders had
noticed an increase in extremist ideologies being discussed on the Web.

But the bomb attack in the capital Oslo and the shooting at a Socialist
youth camp on Utoya island were a wake-up call for churches that they
need to prevent their faith being used as justification for violence, he
said in a telephone interview from Norway.

"We as Christians need to be aware of this, how our faith and our
religion can be abused," he said. "This event shows how important it is
that we continue this work more than ever."

Tveit has headed the Geneva-based WCC since 2010. The organization
represents 349 Protestant and Orthodox churches with some 560 million
members worldwide.

Re: Churches leader calls Norway rampage 'blasphemous'

At least his heart is in the right place, re: Israel. As for his other actions, well--I do disagree totally with him, re: his killing spree that he shouldn't have carried out. B/c killing is wrong--PERIOD.

Re: Churches leader calls Norway rampage 'blasphemous'

SisterNChrist,

I don't believe that he really cares about Israel, it was just an excuse made by him to try and justify his actions. He did it to make himself look like a hero fighting for a cause. The cause was his own, to start a civil war, because he didn't like was was happening in his country with Muslims settling.

He gives Christians a bad name! "Vengeance is my saith the Lord", not ours. Don't get me wrong, I don't condone what the Muslim terrorist are doing, and neither do I condone what He has done. Two wrongs don't make a right!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Blessings in Christ!
