1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

How can you know?

Hello to all on this forum.
I have a question, I was wondering how can you know that you are saved for sure I have asked the Lord Jesus into my heart and I got baptized recently and yet I still seem to have doubts that I cannot shake and also like most christians on this forum and others have been having dreams and visions but I havnt and I was wondering if thats because I wasnt saved or if because Im not as close to the Lord as I should be.
Thank You for taking the time to read this any answer is appreciated.:)

Re: How can you know?

You have to BELIEVE or have FAITH that God is who He says He is and that His Son, Jesus, is Who He said He was.

If you believe that, then here's some words to answer your question.

Rom.10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Then here's just one promise of many in the Bible that states YOU have been forgiven and move on now and live that good life..

1John1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

And do NOT forget to fellowship in prayer with the Father and Jesus on a daily routine..

Luke21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

Re: How can you know?

Hi RisingxSoul,

Lets look to the Bible in responding to your question!

Romans 10:9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

extract from Pastor Ford Porter: www.jesus-is-savior.com, God's simple plan of Salvation

In Acts 16:30-31, the Philippian jailer asked Paul and Silas: “ . . . ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ And they said, ‘Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved . . . .’ ”

Simply believe on Him as the one who bore your sin, died in your place, was buried, and whom God resurrected. His resurrection powerfully assures that the believer can claim everlasting life when Jesus is received as Savior.

“But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name” (John 1:12).

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13).

SO you can put the doubt to bed......and know the assurance that Jesus gives you, simply by believing.

Regarding gifts of the Spirit, be filled with the Holy Spirit, and see what gift the Lord gives you.

Not everyone has dreams and visions, I would say that it would be a rare event for most believers.

1 Corinthians 12 is good reading too. It talks about how the body is made up of different parts and that if everyone makes up part of the body.

vs.16 And if the ear says, "Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body," it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body.

God Bless you and know the Father's love, you are held in his hand.

David

I did not have a dream or vision,
but he leads me with his word.

Amen Mollie! His grace is sufficient and His word keeps us walking in truth not error.

I get concerned when people place so much emphasis on dreams and visions, and then when it does not come to pass they are disappointed. God's word edifies and encourages us to go on, His word never fails.

Thank you Lord for your Holy word and the Word made flesh.
