I received the following message in an email today, and I am in agreement with what this message has to say. Why should God continue to bless America? America was blessed for so long because it was a God honoring nation for a long time. In the last 40 years or so, America has gradually turned it's back on God. As a believer in Jesus Christ, I say "Lord, please take your church home", instead of saying "God bless America". This nation has gone too far the wrong way, and will not turn back to God. America will suffer God's wrath during the tribulation period very soon.

How Can God Bless America?
 
 
All the time I hear people wanting us to pray for our country and pray that GOD will bless America.  Well I am going to say something that will probably outrage a few people, but I refuse to pray for GOD to bless this country.  I ask you, how can GOD bless America?  Wouldn’t it go against everything GOD stands for to bless America now?
 
Wouldn’t GOD be blessing a country that stands for all the things GOD doesn’t approve of in His Word.   America has become evil.  Everything on television is embracing the world, the world which is an enmity to GOD.  There is hardly anything you can watch that doesn’t blaspheme GOD’s name in some crass way or promote lewd behavior and language.  Our bookstores are full of books that embrace anti-GOD themes: paganism, atheism, the occult, new age thinking, humanism, and on and on.  We don’t need GOD when we’ve got Borders and Barnes & Nobles. 
 
We embrace our rights to abortion and promote homosexuality and pornography.  Movies promote the occult, horror, and all sorts of low-life packaged evil.  We pursue wealth and the desire for it like there is no tomorrow.  We spend little time with GOD in the pursuit of money while flying the banner that says well GOD wants us to be good stewards with what HE gives us.  He doesn’t care if we have wealth, HE cares that we have a relationship with Him.  But we make more time for generating money than getting to know our MAKER. 
 
We’ve elected a president that embraces the homosexual agenda, loves pagan religions and parades them through the halls of the white house.  And simultaneously he vets all white house prayers of any mention of the name JESUS CHRIST.  He covers up crucifixes so as not to offend anyone while he hosts homosexuals at celebration events in the white house. 
 
Christians in this country go to church on Sunday and then hug copies of Harry Potter and Vampire novels because they have conveniently overlooked the fact that the Bible says GOD abhors the occult, witches, mediums, wizards and the like.  Now our country is even backing the division of GOD’s covenant country which HE has made plainfully clear for no one to ever touch.
 
No, our country was built on the concept of freedom to worship GOD.  In fact, it was our claim to fame.  In GOD we trusted and GOD likewise has blessed this country, enormously.  HE has poured out HIS blessings and riches on the US of A and we have benefited as if we all were royalty.  We lack nothing.  We have it all, right at our fingertips: fresh water, entertainment 24/7, every possible electronic gadget, homes, cars, and luxurious vacations.  We can’t imagine what life is like in a third world country.  We have no concept of it. 
 
So now that we are brimming full of GOD’s blessings we have decided to dispense with HIM.  We watch programs that use HIS name like a piece of trash.  We watch programs that are soft pornography and think nothing of it.  We never crack open our Bibles or spend time in prayer or repentance.  Our Federal Treasury flies a homosexual flag and we rewrite American History to appease pagan faiths.  We watch talk show hosts who tell us all the answers for life from the combination of all the best things each religion of the world has to offer packaged as the new answers for life as a human. 
 
You know what.  If GOD blessed us now—wouldn’t HE be saying, “Here’s MY blessing, sure I approve of all your blatantly evil behavior—keep it up!”  Well, I for one don’t want GOD to bless this country.  I don’t want HIM to put HIS stamp of approval on what is so obviously a country rejecting the hand that fed it. 
 
And just who do we think we are anyway?  The Old Testament is full of stories that tell how GOD over and over punished HIS own covenant people and HIS own covenant land for embracing every wooden idol under a tree and marrying every pagan concept.  And GOD sent HIS people packing and into the hands of their worst enemies.  This was the people GOD loved and embraced…what hope have we?  Do we really think we are going to get out of this mess we have gotten ourselves into unscathed? 
 
Instead of praying for blessings on America we better pray that we are worthy to be considered the bride of Christ and able to be ready for the coming rapture that GOD is trying to warn us is coming.

amen, bro! i havent been praying good upon this godless country either. when people say "pray for our country" or "GOD bless america" i pray for that individual because that lets me know that he/she is not awake or aware of what time it is. alot of people are about to wake up though. its kinda like falling asleep at a bus stop and waking up to the engine of the bus you were supposed to be on as it drives away. this country has driven WAY WAY too far down the wrong road and cannot turn back now. i figure when this finally all goes down, our country might be cursed worse than any other during the tribulation since we have lived on the blessings of GOD and so quickly turned from HIM.

I agree. This ship is sinking and cannot be saved. All we can try to do, now, is get as many people into the lifeboats, so to speak, and pray that God will evacuate us to safety before He destroys our nation.

let us remember that we are no better than ANY person/people. but our strength is that we are out to please our father in heaven and we desperately need to be constantly reassured that we are in good standing and we are pleasing in GODs sight. i just dont know how to live without HIS approval.

What a great post about exposing the US for what it really is and the spiritual condition its in, which is ripe for judgment.
When I spend time in prayer, the main things that I pray for it for Israel, persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ around the world, faithful and watchful brothers and sisters around the world, but I don't prayer for rival or God's blessing on this pagan nation that I'm embarrassed to live in. It's a daily struggle, dealing with people on a daily basis that are so blinded and occupied with daily affairs, and how convinced they are, that you can pretty much do what you want and be under God's grace, they will be in for a very big suprise when the REAL rapture occurs, which is reserved only for those picking up their cross, denying themselves and following Him daily!
Everytime a go to church or any other place that I go, when I mention how excited I am about the coming of our Lord, it seems like I get the cold shoulder most of the time. It can get discouraging, but at least I can go to this message forum and be encouraged. Once again, thank you Kevin for this great post!
