1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

Rapture in Romans 11??

Yesterday morning I was reading Chapter 11 of Romans. I have been going through a chapter a day of Romans for the past few days. I was in my car while reading this sitting in the parking lot at my fire station. I had just come off of a 24 hour shift and was getting ready to go to my other job. Many times I will stay there in the car and read some and then while driving, I will pray.

Anyway, after I read Chapter 11 something struck me about this chapter. Paul is dealing with the stubbornness of Israel and how God has blinded them and brought salvation to the Gentiles. So I thought about it yesterday and I felt the Holy Spirit leading me to read and study this again. So this morning I re-read SLOWLY all of Chapter 11. After reading verse 25 I had to go back and read it again. Could this verse be referring to the RAPTURE??

Remember this is CHAPTER 11 …….. 11 right??

Verse 25 says (NKJV) "For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in."

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?? I am curious to know if anyone has ever made this connection before. I have never seen it made, but I thought it unusual that this was in chapter 11. Also only three chapters in Romans end with “Amen” and this is one of them. The other two are chapters 15 and 16. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Re: Rapture in Romans 11??

John,
You are absolutely right about Romans 11:25. The spiritual blindness that Jews have had for about 2000 years now is temporary, and God will remove that spiritual blindness after the church is raptured. The fullness of the Gentiles is at the door, and then God will deal with Israel again during the 70th week of Daniel. I had been reading this chapter to a co-worker recently, because this passage of scripture refutes the doctrine of "replacement theology" that many mainline denomination churches teach concerning Israel. Good catch brother, and keep looking up!
