1 Thessalonians 4:15-18

   For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

2 Timothy 4:7-8
For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing

Evacuation plans: Worst Case Flooding Feared (beyond 100 year mark)!!!

My home town is in the Mississippi Delta ( about 25-30 miles from the Mississippi River ) where my mother lives. I was speaking to her by phone this afternoon and, about the last thing we spoke about, she wanted to read me a letter. The mayor of our town along with the county civil defense director ( I guess ) has put a letter out to everyone to BE PREPARED ( telling them what items to take with them, etc. ) in case they need to evacuate. This is INCREDIBLE!!!

I called a son and he looked up the following article and also checked. Our town WAS flooded in 1927. Sort of interesting that the name of this guy is “Nimrod” who said:

"We're not talking a 100-year flood," said Peter
Nimrod, chief engineer for the Greenville-based
Mississippi Levee Board. "It's way beyond a 100-year
flood."

I told my son about Dutchsinse saying that there has been a real LACK of earthquakes in the Madrid Fault zone. Soooo...., I believe Dutchsince thinks that this area "could" be building stress and "THIS" explosion of levies releasing water onto farm land ( or maybe "something" ) could be a "trigger". Of course the WORSE case scenario would be an earthquake WHILE the waters are this high!!!

Worst-case flooding feared

•Some towns would be underwater, engineer says

If worst-case scenarios prove true, flooding in the lower Mississippi Delta could put Rolling Fork and other towns underwater.

A public meeting is set for 10 a.m. today at the National Guard Armory in Rolling Fork.

"We're not talking a 100-year flood," said Peter Nimrod, chief engineer for the Greenville-based Mississippi Levee Board. "It's way beyond a 100-year flood."

Flooding could also hit the towns of Valley Park, Onward, Anguilla, Cary and Mayersville.

On Tuesday, Gov. Haley Barbour requested President Barack Obama declare 11 Mississippi counties as disaster areas in anticipation of major flooding. Those counties are Adams, Bolivar, Claiborne, Coahoma, DeSoto, Issaquena, Jefferson, Tunica, Warren, Washington and Wilkinson.

All nine casinos in Tunica County have been closed indefinitely. Last year, the casinos paid $70 million in taxes to the state and $35 million to the county.

"It is our hope that the rising water will recede rapidly, however, if it gets as high as predicted, our situation becomes even more perilous," said Webster Franklin, CEO of the Tunica Convention and Visitors Bureau. "A crest of 48 feet has the real potential to cause structural damage to our casinos and further delay our area's recovery."

The National Weather Service predicts the Mississippi River also will reach record levels in Vicksburg and Natchez. The worst flooding is expected in the lower Mississippi Delta.

Flood waters are expected to reach 57.5 feet - more than a foot beyond the top of the Yazoo Backwater Levee.

The best-case scenario would be the water would only reach 95 feet above sea level, Nimrod said. "The water flows over the levee, and the levee holds."

Kelly Greenwood, chief engineer for the state's other levee board, the Yazoo-Mississippi Delta Levee Board, remains confident levees will hold in Coahoma, DeSoto and Tunica counties. Access already has been closed to the 98-mile mainline levee that stretches from Walls in DeSoto County to the Coahoma-Bolivar county line.

"Our levees are in top condition, and we are confident regarding their stability," he said.

Nimrod said the worst-case scenario would be for the water to reach 107 feet above sea level. "That's at least six feet above a 100-year flood."

In the best-case scenario, many rural areas of the Mississippi would get flooding, he said. "In the worst-case scenario, we've got towns underwater."

On Tuesday, state Department of Transportation officials closed Mississippi 465 in Warren County and Issaquena County because of high flood waters, saying it will remain closed until further notice.

The Mississippi Levee Board has voted to close all roads along a 176-mile mainline levee beginning midnight Saturday, impacting residents' access to hundreds of homes and hunting camps, said Charles Tindall III, the board's attorney.

The state Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks has suspended all recreational boating activity on lakes along the Mississippi River affected by the flood.

Backwaters from the rising river already have reached some homes and other structures. It's on the way to others and may all but submerge those in the lowest areas of the impacted Delta counties.

Emergency officials are hoping for the best, but are well aware they cannot suppress a river intent on rising and pushing backwaters into residential areas.

The Great Mississippi Flood of 1927 may be one of the state's most notorious weather events, but many times since, backwaters have claimed property and lives in the Delta.

State Rep. John Hines, D-Greenville, said he is particularly concerned about evacuation plans for the elderly and people with disabilities. Hines said he was not comfortable with the responses he received from emergency officials for evacuating vulnerable residents, if necessary.

"All special needs people need to be given a high degree of concern," he said.

Tindall said people have been given ample warning. "I don't think we'll have any of those situations," he said.

Rolling Fork Mayor James Denson said predictions are flooding will reach between 107 and 109 feet above sea level in his town.

He said the highest point in town, the courthouse, is 106 feet above sea level. Everything else is below that, he said.

He said city officials already have begun to store sand in multiple locations for sandbagging.

They plan to keep an eye on one low-lying neighborhood that includes Sixth and Seventh streets, he said. "We know from the 1973 flood that those areas were directly involved in the flooding."

The uncertainty of the future has "more or less got everybody in limbo," he said.

Whatever happens, he is certain citizens will keep fighting, he said. "We're hopeful, but we're right there in his (God's) hands."

Yes, Calvin. Me, too. I hope your mom has a way to get out safely.
This is really heartbreaking. I feel for those in the flood zones and farmers whose land was flooded by those levies being blown-up. Strange stuff.
I saw the utubies Dutch posted ~ I hope he's wrong.

Re: Evacuation plans: Worst Case Flooding Feared (beyond 100 year mark)!!!

THANKS, Alleluiah!!!

It's probably just going to flood mostly farm land but a LOT of it!!!

BUT.......

This is almost unprecedented in our lifetimes!!!!

What "IF" there was an earthquake!!!??

"BLESSINGS!!!!"

Calvin

Re: Evacuation plans: Worst Case Flooding Feared (beyond 100 year mark)!!!

You're so welcome, Calvin!

Unprecedented; Historic; Epic sure seems to be
the words we are hearing the last year or so!

Come Lord, Jesus!!!

Re: Evacuation plans: Worst Case Flooding Feared (beyond 100 year mark)!!!

I was just heartbroken when I saw what the tornados did on April 27th and now there is this horrible threat of massive flooding. Again, it is just heartbreaking and so very frightening for all in the path of these waters. I am so hoping that Jesus comes before we see any more destruction. I am going to pray Psalm 91 tonight over all those in the path of the floods.

Tomorrow is also the National Day of Prayer. Let's all join in prayers of protection for our American families and friends, especially our brothers and sisters in Jesus that God will hold this back and change the forecast.

God bless Calvin, praying for you and your family.

Re: Evacuation plans: Worst Case Flooding Feared (beyond 100 year mark)!!!

Joining in Prayer with you and all Texas Sue,

its our best and only protection these days.

Re: Evacuation plans: Worst Case Flooding Feared (beyond 100 year mark)!!!

I'm joining all here in prayer for you and your Mother!

May the Lord keep you all and your property safe under His wing!

Lord hear our prayers!

Re: Evacuation plans: Worst Case Flooding Feared (beyond 100 year mark)!!!

Val:

THANKS MUCH, but it would REALLY have to be VEEERY bad for MANY more people for it to get to us!!!! The MAIN message, it seems, is the Lord’s return. The “BACK TO BACK TO BACK” “Storms in the South, Royal Wedding, Flood…..”. NOT TO MENTION the “F”rauds put forth to make it all sound like “PEACE AND SECURITY” is just down the road!!!!

“COME, LORD JESUS!!!”

“AMEN!!!!!!!

“BLESSINGS!!!”

Luke 17
26 “Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will
it be in the days of the Son of Man. 27 People were
eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage
up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came
and destroyed them all.

Isaiah 54
The Future Glory of Zion
1 “Sing, barren woman,
you who never bore a child;
burst into song, shout for joy,
you who were never in labor;
because more are the children of the desolate woman
than of her who has a husband,”
says the LORD.
2 “Enlarge the place of your tent,
stretch your tent curtains wide,
do not hold back;
lengthen your cords,
strengthen your stakes.
3 For you will spread out to the right and to the left;
your descendants will dispossess nations
and settle in their desolate cities.
4 “Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame.
Do not fear disgrace; you will not be humiliated.
You will forget the shame of your youth
and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.
5 For your Maker is your husband—
the LORD Almighty is his name—
the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer;
he is called the God of all the earth.
6 The LORD will call you back
as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit—
a wife who married young,
only to be rejected,” says your God.
7 “For a brief moment I abandoned you,
but with deep compassion I will bring you back.
8 In a surge of anger
I hid my face from you for a moment,
but with everlasting kindness
I will have compassion on you,”
says the LORD your Redeemer.
9 “TO ME THIS IS LIKE THE DAYS OF NOAH,
when I swore that the waters of Noah would never again cover the earth.
So now I have sworn not to be angry with you,
never to rebuke you again.
10 Though the mountains be shaken
and the hills be removed,
yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken
nor my covenant of peace be removed,”
says the LORD, who has compassion on you.
11 “Afflicted city, lashed by storms and not comforted,
I will rebuild you with stones of turquoise,
your foundations with lapis lazuli.
12 I will make your battlements of rubies,
your gates of sparkling jewels,
and all your walls of precious stones.
13 All your children will be taught by the LORD,
and great will be their peace.
14 In righteousness you will be established:
Tyranny will be far from you;
you will have nothing to fear.
Terror will be far removed;
it will not come near you.
15 If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing;
whoever attacks you will surrender to you.
16 “See, it is I who created the blacksmith
who fans the coals into flame
and forges a weapon fit for its work.
And it is I who have created the destroyer to wreak havoc;
17 no weapon forged against you will prevail,
and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.
This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD,
and this is their vindication from me,”
declares the LORD.

Zechariah 9
The Coming of Zion’s King

9 Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion!
Shout, Daughter Jerusalem!
See, your king comes to you,
righteous and victorious,
lowly and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
10 I will take away the chariots from Ephraim
and the warhorses from Jerusalem,
and the battle bow will be broken.
He will proclaim peace to the nations.
His rule will extend from sea to sea
and from the River to the ends of the earth.
11 As for you, because of the blood of my covenant with you,
I will free your prisoners from the waterless pit.
12 Return to your fortress, you prisoners of hope;
even now I announce that I will restore twice as much to you.
13 I will bend Judah as I bend my bow
and fill it with Ephraim.
I will rouse your sons, Zion,
against your sons, Greece,
and make you like a warrior’s sword.
The LORD Will Appear
14 Then the LORD will appear over them;
his arrow will flash like lightning.
The Sovereign LORD will sound the trumpet;
HE WILL MARCH IN THE STORMS OF THE SOUTH,
15 and the LORD Almighty will shield them.
They will destroy
and overcome with slingstones.
They will drink and roar as with wine;
they will be full like a bowl
used for sprinkling the corners of the altar.
16 The LORD their God will save his people on that day
as a shepherd saves his flock.
They will sparkle in his land
like jewels in a crown.
17 How attractive and beautiful they will be!
Grain will make the young men thrive,
and new wine the young women.
