Hi all, I probably won't be back to this site, I stumbled across it while looking for other things, but I wanted to share that I had found some lovely morels growing in New Zealand. Actually, they were growing in the used milk cartons that a local nursery uses to grow tree seedlings. The woman there told me that every year they spring up in the dirt around the seedlings, and the staff happily collect them for dinner. It must be something in the old cartons, because they seem to pop up like clockwork :)
Now........If we could just figure out what they are doing!
Actually, I would have expected Morels in the same relative temperate zones of the southern hemisphere. Thanks for taking the time to share this story!
