I am a southern IL transplant to the city of Chicago. I love hunting for and frying up a delicious batch of mushrooms. Anyone have any tips or recommendations of places to go in the city, i.e forest preserves, or any locations in the burbs?? I know my family back home is pretty secretive about giving up their good spots but would anyone mind giving a few tips and when the best time might be to start looking in this area given our climate?

along the canals i hear say is a good walk and like you said the preserves.from now till you stop finding them.

A few years ago I was working in the chicago area. Happened to cut near the railroad tracks thru Naperville and found about 12 lbs in less than an hour. Always wanted to get back there, lol.
