All these schools closing because of the "bad" weather made me cast my mind back to PGS.
Real blizzards with snow feet deep.
Boiler breaking down and having to sit in classrooms with our parkas on.
Cross-country running round Knowsley Park in several inches of snow.
Doing the three peaks with thick ice all around.
Making slides in the playground by gradually compressing the snow.
I fondly remember the massed snowball fights on the field at the rear of the Boys' school; allowing all the self-assumed toughies to run ahead and then plastering them with snow from their exposed rear. I can still recall the look on the face of that ginger prat, Roger Roberts, as he turned round to see who had covered his back in snow. Gotcha !
