If anyone has any photos or storys etc on my dad Alister(boots)Reid.He served in both tours and sadly past away on 9/9/2005.Anything would be of great help.

Very sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing.
Unfortunately I did not know him but I see he had two full tours of active service in South Vietnam, both with 5RAR. The first was from 12 May 1966 to 12 May 1967 and the second from 27 January 1969 to 18 February 1970. During the second tour of duty he was in Administration Company but I don’t know what job he did. You could probably find this out (and more) from his service records. As for his nickname “Boots” that would have been derived from his initials AB. In the 1960s (other than in South Vietnam) our main footwear was referred to as “Black Boots AB”.
