I just wanted to congratulate two good mates of mine. Mick (Deak) Baron von Berg on being a recipient of the OAM. Mick and I have known each other since 1962 and served in E coy 1RAR and then the formation of 5RAR.....how did you manage it Mick? Rugby is not the usual football in S.A.?

And to another good mate of mine...Congratulations Zeke(Roy Mundine) for your appointment as Inaugural Indigenous Elder. Wow! I cannot think of a more deserving and qualified person. You will do the task well. You've always been a person I have been proud to know and serve with...again from E coy 1RAR and the formation of 5RAR.

Thanks for your kind words Pom.Indeed the old E Coy and the good times we all had with some great old soldiers, many who transferred from 1RAR to 5RAR and based on the Battalions first tour, weren't we glad they did. Some great soldiers amongst them and Zeke being one of them. Keep well and safe Pom. Mick
