JLP isn't Alanis' debut album either, but most people think of it as her debut. I guess the same is true of Michael Jackson and OFF THE WALL.

I have no idea of the journalistic integrity of BLUE JEAN, but I have read that it's the biggest music magazine in Turkey.

since I don't think Madonna's album is one of the best debut albums ever (strong in its own right and influential, but...) Just as Carey's surely isn't (though it is one of her best albums).

Alanis' album is a little different of a scenario than MJ- Alanis' early album(s) wasn't released in the USA (which is the biggest music market), whereas Michael enjoyed solo success before Off the Wall. So to regard Off the Wall as a debut album is very inaccurate.
