just read you post on sealing engine pipe, I had same problem and pipe and port didn't look too bad ,I adjusted stay so all was sweet, then found a piece of copper wire the right size to gently tap into the port around the pipe allowing a bit of overlap, followed buy a smear of silicon,all invisible and has never leaked since. hope this helps.
I took a can of catfood (or whatever) a strong pair of scissors and cut a strip of thin metal, about half an inch wide. Wrapped it carefully (mind your fingers!) round the exhaust pipe and pushed it in the port. Very easy.
Didn't use any saelent at all. No need to.
Never had any problems since then, could even be used again (like in case of a road side repair).
