Re: Re: Re: Surfing in Palau.

I am from Palau, and now I live on Hawaii. I am an avid surfer, and I can tell youthat Palau actually has some really awesome surf. For anyone intersted, the surf community is small but give Fonzie or Bill Ridpath a call and you'll get somewhere. We are always looking to recruit. Some really sick surf sites are at the Channels in Melekeok, Ngeremlengui, Ngaraard, Blue Corner, Peleliu and Angaur.
I had the pleasure of a 10 day vacation last month and surfed some of the best waves ever in Melekeok. Clean, consistent and not crowded. It breaks like "suicides" at Sandy's beach in Hawaii. Thick rights with very clean lefts. Some days it gets pretty big and is reminicent of the thick outer reef bombs of Tahiti. Melekeok is a 30 min drive from Koror and a 5 min. paddle out. Definitely Check it out if surfing is your thing.
