- I have included Youtube links with the results for future listings. I tried to pick links that were for the song only and not the music video, so if you're looking for those you'll have to find them yourself. After the results are revealed I'll add a Deezer playlist/similar kind of embedded links and hopefully someone will be kind enough to make a Spotify playlist.
- The accompanying images are of the single artwork, if it was released as a single; if not, either the album artwork or a picture of the artist is used.
- The individual lists will also be posted. A few people posted ranked lists, or included more than 20 songs; these will be included at the end of the results, along with the spreadsheet.
- If you want to see the rules for Round 2, or where to send your posts, they are located here.
- Remember that anybody can vote in Round 2, even if you didn't vote in Round 1!
And off we go! 33 songs received 2 nominations, leaving 24 songs remaining.* These songs are (in random order)...
* I know I said there were 58 songs that advanced to Round 2. Mistakenly I counted Broadcast & The Focus Group's "The Be Colony" and "The Be Colony/Dashing Home/What on Earth Took You?" as the same song. They aren't, which I discovered when double-checking everything.
And that's it for the songs with 2 nominations! The rest of the songs will be revealed later.
One last thing about the results I forgot to mention in the statistics - there is one artist who had 5 songs nominated, and all 5 advanced to Round 2. It's a fairly easy guess.
Excellent presentation Alex D.
And thanks to all who voted for XX. I couldn't decide which song is my favourite (before that Jools Holland show video) so I didn't vote any of their songs. Now it's easier to pick favorites.

3 songs so far but it's pretty sure Islands and Crystalized will make the list too. And if the XX is one of the 2 bands with 7 songs (with is quite expectable), I would bet on Basic Space and Shelter. (Even though I like Intro and Heart Skipped a Beat a bit more).

Maybe XX was that easy guess (Intro is also one of my favorites but I think no one voted got that). So my guess is still Annie with seven nominations. I'm actually bit surprised Moonbeam didn't vote for more than seven Annie songs
Four Fever Ray in the second round (so far) is great too.

I think may have been a little unclear. 2 artists had seven of their songs nominated - but not all of them got enough nominations for the second round. The artist with the most songs in the second round has five songs - the same artist that all of their nominated songs advance.
Sorry. I do not quite understand what to do now in this poll. Someone could explain me?. We consider that there are 57 songs that pass the final round? What are the other 24 songs?
I have read the rules of the AMF but I'm not sure what to do now

First, I will reveal the remaining qualified songs for a total of 57 songs in Round 2.
Second, from those 57 songs, you can compile a list of your 20 favorite songs. You have 150 points to distribute to those 20 songs, similar to the albums poll we just did, with a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 30 points to each song. To submit it you can send it to amsongspoll09@gmail.com

I understood that. So it's time to change my guess again (back to original). AC (with only 4 four songs in second round . No songs from Fall Be Kind ) and XX (3-4) got seven nominations and Fever Ray is in the game with five songs (the one left is Triangle Walks ).
"Music Is a Princess" is available on Spotify too. At least from Sweden.
I do not know the reason for your comment Henrik. Not including "Music Is A Princess" in the playlist that I sent?
The song does not show up for me. There's probably a difference between countries (maybe the album is issued on different labels in Spain and Sweden?). Anyway, don't worry about it, Otis.

It's pretty sure that XX is one of those 2 bands (since I nominated Infinity and I would be surprised nobody nominated Islands and Crystalized).
If Fever Ray is the artist with 5 songs, I would bet on If I Had a Heart as the fifth !
Three songs I haven't heard before. (The Heavy – How You Like Me Now?, El Perro del Mar – Change of Heart and Benjamin Biolay – La Superbe). Edit I had heard Song by El Perro del Mar so only two new songs in this section. /Edit
About Fever Ray, yeah of course the opening track of Fever Ray was the one with most votes (I can't believe I forgot it). It's definitely very good song but maybe there's no need for introduce it twice. Also The Heavy – How You Like Me Now? link goes to video of If I Had Heart.
I put my money on Two Weeks to win this round.
Edit. I'm already late (and wrong).
I got 8 songs to next round and I voted many very obvious ones (Stillnes Is the Move, Zero,...).
It's unbeliveable that Nick got all his songs to the next round and if he hadn't voted there would have still been 17 of his favorites in the second round.
Aww, no Two (I really would have thought this would have gotten at least a few votes), The Wrestler, Fiya or Blood Bank. Still, pretty good list folks.
Damn. Maybe I should of voted. I just expected my favorite songs would make it through. 2 of them didn't: Passion Pit's Little Secrets and Animal Collective's Bluish.
Thanks for round 1. It is going to be a tough second round. Two really nice new discoveries for me.
"Colonized mind" have to be the best from Prince this millenium. And the Fuck Buttons song is massive!
I can't believe Brother Sport didn't pass to the 2nd round. It's my favorite song from this year along with Two Weeks. Bluish is one of my favorites of MPP either, VanillaFire. Well, at least Lion In a Coma passed...
I thought of making a list, even don't knowing much tracks of this year, only to help songs like Brother Sport, Wilco's One Wing, M. Ward's Rave On and Never Had Nobody Like You, and... Franz Ferdinand's No You Girls!!! A total surprise for me to see this advancing, what a nice danceable song it is!
And now it's time to listen to all the chosen songs, great expectations for the discoveries!
It's no big deal, but I nominated Prince's Colonized Mind as well. Great song! Great lyrics!
Yeah, that should have been you listed instead of sonofsamiam.
phewww... already thought that sonny had lost his mind completely... "if you look, you're sure gonna find, throughout mankind's history, a colonized mind"... great lyrics, indeed.
edit: _ps: i personally lindsey weber that much about the ego balanced tastistics of Greg and Moonbeam... friends of mine remain friends of mines and invincible till the very end..
Some thoughts on the list, from the compiler's perspective:
- Biggest shocker: how bad Animal Collective did. "Brother Sport" got exactly one vote, and it came on the last day. They got 21 nominations overall - 10 for "My Girls", and 5 for "Summertime Clothes" (which at one point was in the lead), which doesn't leave room for much else.
- There's a handful of really great pop songs I hadn't heard before.
- I feel like "Empire State of Mind" is "token rap single" of the year. I don't expect it to stay too high.
- Either "Stillness is the Move" isn't as popular as I thought it was, or it's in the "This song is already a lock to go through, I'll vote for something else" category.
- Lots of vote-splitting for The XX. "Islands" and "Basic Space" are probably just as worthy songs as the ones that went through.
Spreadsheet and playlist to come...tomorrow (hopefully).
I think it's better that the poll isn't dominated by Animal Collective. It will be more interesting that way. Although I do wish What Would I Want? Sky would have gotten through. That's my #2 of the year. Oh well, I'm sure My Girls will win.
A little mistake : I didn't vote for Biolay - La Superbe, my vote was for Biolay - Brandt Rhapsodie.
And the right link for The Heavy – How You Like Me Now? : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVzvRsl4rEM

I vote for Brandt Rhapsodie too. Two songs by Biolay in the second round, yeah !
Soit dit en passant, c'est propablement la meilleur chanson française de la decennie. Texte admirable.
nicolas, I don't know if you're reading this, but I miss your participation in this poll. The selection of songs in round 2 is very good, but it would have been even better with your taste included. I voted for Fredo Viola's "The Sad Song" but sadly no one else did.

Yeah, looks like we have another song in the second round:

Well, in fact i'm just reading this for the first time.
Sorry, I would have loved to take part but
1) I'm kinda busy with all these polls and I had to make choices
2) I haven't heard a lot of albums and songs this year, or not enough to have clear preferences.
But voting for Fredo Viola was an excellent choice .
I'll try to vote for the second round now that the all-time song poll is over.
Also, a handful of the songs were made available as free, legal mp3 downloads on stereogum.com. The links below link directly to the files, just right-click and hit "Save Link As".
Also, remember that for every song you are under 20, you must subtract 5 points from the total. For example, if you submit 17 songs, you may only assign a maximum of 135 points. I don't think I mentioned that anywhere.
This may be elsewhere, but is there any way the full list of nominees can be included in one post, plain text?
Thanks!

I'm not going to be terribly strict with the deadline - if you're going to be late with your list, just post a quick note here or shoot me an email. I'm not planning on revealing the results until after the All-Time Songs Poll list unveiling is complete, so when that wraps up, this list will start.

Don't forget to give me a little time to roll out the top songs of the '00s!
Well, voting thus far has been less than spectacular - 17 votes so far. (I got 21 for Round 1). I'm expecting another couple votes in the next day or two. As stated previously, the deadline is unofficially extended, so feel free to vote.
And remember, if you didn't vote in Round 1, you can still vote in Round 2! I say that because I've noticed a few first-time posters in the past week or so.
I'll be rolling out the results within the next day or two. I'm going to borrow a lot of things from Jackson's recent All-Time Songs Poll, so hopefully the presentation will be up to snuff there. One thing I particularly liked was the lyric that came with each song - it was a nice touch that really emphasized the character of each song. So I have an idea - I would appreciate it if a few people would be willing to email a snippet of their favorite lyrics from some of the songs they voted for, and I'll include them with the results. I will for all the songs I voted for, but there are still quite a few left. Completely optional here - I just think it would be a nice personal touch.
