Re: Q magazine EOD - 100 greatest albums

Another horrendous Franz snub. Quite unfair to be honest.

Re: Q magazine EOD - 100 greatest albums

This is their critics' list, correct? I'm not seeing it online yet and I just want to make sure before I start adding it to the spreadsheet. Thanks!

It's voted for by their artists of the century, who are this months 34 cover stars, plus '100 other noted folk'...so yes!

That's not exactly critics, though, is it?

But that's fine. I have several "critics lists" where the magazine has asked musicians etc. about their favorites.

Re: Q magazine EOD - 100 greatest albums

about 100 of those 134 people are amoung the great & the good of the music world...these kind of lists are usually ok.

Re: Q magazine EOD - 100 greatest albums

Not as bad a list as we usually get from Q. There are some oddities in this list. Like, American Idiot in the top ten? Really? These 40 year olds ran out of energy in the 90s, so instead they put on goth makeup to hide their gray hair and age spots and started screaming out what amounts to Jon Stewart politics without the humor or intelligence.

And also, of the three Tom Waits albums this decade you pick Alice?! Real Gone and Orphans are both so much better. And then, Deep Cuts and no Silent Shout? Milk Eyed Mender and no Ys? Dear Science and no Cookie Mountain?

You go and get yours, ladies!

I would have chosen Fatherfucker, Two Suns and Miss E... So Addictive for Peaches, Bat for Lashes and Missy, but I'm happy to see them get love!

I think Alice is far better than Real Gone.

The thing I'm most disturbed over is the only Wilco album listed is by far their worst this decade (and overall their worst since their debut in 1995.)

Re: Q magazine EOD - 100 greatest albums

kill me now.

Re: Q magazine EOD - 100 greatest albums

How mediocre. Sam's Town, Back to Black (at ONE!), and Viva la Vida in the top 20 of the entire decade?

84. The Fratellis - Costello Music

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeah!!!

Although that's not much surprising coming from quite a mainstream-poppy list like this, and one that has the Monkeys so high. Green Day in the top 10 is ridiculous, as well as Back to Black at #1, even though I consider this one a great album.

I have these. Nice to seem them inside their list, but there are same unusual choices, inside the top 20, and the top 100 in general. I have these albums, but i'm not sure if i would name a few of them top 100 of the decade. It's a different list, but man Amny Winehouse is gettin a lot of love from the Brits, next time this site updates she may be inside the top 300 of all time. Sad, for not seeing PJ Harvey, although she is another lady gettin a lot of love over there. Adele's 19 make the final cut but Duffy's Rockferry is nowhere to be seen, although Q named one of the best of 2008. Nice to see Fur & Gold, but maybe it's not enough to get the album finally inside AM top 3000 (shitty bubbling under). Milk-Eyed Mender inside the top 40, is the only no-Pitchfork list to include that album so far, most of the others preferred to include Ys. Different list, it has great albums, just the position and the inclusion of some are a little bit off the hook. But, hey if all the EOD lists were the same, it wouldn't be as funny.
