Yes, we're going again! From an earlier discussion, I know that both Neo and I have "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" in our lists. I also know that the song is not in the top 50-500. Can it REALLY be in the top 49!? |

I mostly know this song from the Orgy cover from the 90s. You can tell the original is really good. New Order has three albums in the AM top 500 and I don't have any of theirs, I should pick one up. |

Nothing disgusts me more than a one-hit wonder whose only hit is a cover of a nearly perfect song. Orgy is the prime example of that, with all the goth posturing and excessive Trent Reznorish instrumental immitation making it all the worst. The Orgy version was the first version I heard completely, I confess, since you really couldn't avoid it on radio in the mid-1990s. Something about the melody was familiar though, and when I heard the song in it's original pure form I loved it. I've haven't really dived into much of New Order beyond Power, Corruption, and Lies, but the way each of the songs just coldly and patiently emerge before the vocals come in is awesome. |

But the second part, built around a wonderful piano part, is pure beauty. |

I think everybody who likes Sonic Youth picked Teenage Riot as sort of a representative Sonic Youth song because their albums tend to work better as whole albums than groups of singles. |

Teenage riot is not overrated at all ! It's one of the few songs that makes me think that 80s has been a total waste of time for rock'n'roll ! Catchy songs, great riff, huge influence, great drum on the middle of the song (I wanted to say "great bridge" but I'm not totally sure that's the good way to say that in english) Teenage kicks is overrated, teenage riot is not !

Now, as expected of course, all the classics come rolling in, and I don't have a problem with that at all. There were some real surprises in the list, but you didn't really expect the usual suspects to just be forgotten? Henrik, I'm afraid it's not gonna make it. I didn't place it that high, so it might not have gotten enough points. |

me too. that was actually one of my criteria - has this song ever goosebumped my forearms? well...sort of. the colored girls give me eerie chills, though. it's mostly the production, i think, but they sound like ghosts or something. |
