New MOJO: The 100 Records That Changed the World
The new issue of MOJO offers another in their parade of lists, this time an artist-and-staff-generated roster of "The 100 Records That Changed the World". This list contains a mixture of albums and singles. I haven't bought the magazine so can't transcribe the complete list, but someone posted the top ten on a message board: 1. Little Richard, "Tutti Frutti" 2. The Beatles, "I Want to Hold Your Hand" 3. Elvis Presley, "Heartbreak Hotel" 4. Bob Dylan, THE FREEWHEELIN' BOB DYLAN 5. Kraftwerk, AUTOBAHN (I think it's the album, not the song) 6. Robert Johnson, KING OF THE DELTA BLUES SINGERS 7. The Velvet Underground, THE VELVET UNDERGROUND AND NICO 8. Harry Smith, ANTHOLOGY OF AMERICAN FOLK MUSIC 9. Ray Charles, "What'd I Say" 10. The Sex Pistols, "God Save the Queen" |
