Just hope they haven't used the stupid 1 album / 1 single rule this time. Surprised they included X&Y... maybe it was between that or one of the singles. |

yeah they have - if you're in the album chart you're not in the single one which means 'My Friend Dario' by Vitalic and 'Spit It Out' by Brendan Benson are absent from the single list. But I like the way they split it - it means you get 100 acts instead of three singles off one album in the top 20 of a list. Just annoyed they missed out 'Superwolf' by Matt Sweeney/Will Oldham, 'Mysterious Production Of Eggs' by Andrew Bird, 'Outside Closer' by Hood and 'Great Destroyer' by Low are absent from the LP list when they are all far far FAR better than the Bright Eyes album. |

Re: Planet Sound Top 50 Albums And Singles
But this method just means singles can get picked ahead of albums which just undermines the fact that, regardless of quality, an album is a greater achievment than a single. |

Re: Planet Sound Top 50 Albums And Singles
They tend to go for albums over singles - for example Kate Bush's 'King Of The Mountain' and Vitalic's 'My Friend Dario' both got 4.5/5 and Magic Numbers/Bright Eyes/Arcade Fire all scored 5/5 singles when there has only been about 10-12 singles all year with a score over 4. The top singles tend to be great tracks of albums that aren't consitently good enough to earn a place in the LP chart (as Gorillaz/Stereophonics etcs albums weren't) |
