Ten Greatest Compilations of the SPIN Era

I picked up the magaszine (finding it after a few stops).

Nice to see Immaculate Collection revceive another noteworthy citation. Pretty cool how she's often viewed (by more than SPIN) as an "alternative" artist, even though, overall, her music is pop. But, edginess will get your foot in the door with the avant-garde (in addition to making what's essentially the template of the genre).

1. The Smiths, Louder Thank Bombs (1987)
2. Depeche Mode, Catching Up With Depeche Mode (1985)
3. Joy Division, Substance (1988)
4. The Cure, Staring at the Sea: The Singles (1986)
5. New Order, Subdtance (1987)
6. Madonna, Immaculate Collection (1990)
7. Black Flag, Wasted...Again (1987)
8. Pet Shop Boys, Discography: The Complete Singles Collection (1991)
9. Minor Threat, Complete Discography (1990)
10. Various Artists, Return of the DJ, Volume 1 (1995)
