Turkish mag BLUE LEAN lists best debut albums ever
The Doors, The Doors Appetite for Destruction, Guns N' Roses Blue Lines, MassivE Attack Please Please Me, Beatles Grace, Jeff Buckley Murmur, REM Ten, Pearl Jam Mariah Carey, Mariah Carey Piper At The Gates of Dawn, Pink Floyd Parachutes, Coldplay Off the Wall, Michael Jackson Experience/Are you Experienced?, Jimi Hendrix Boston, Boston Jagged Little Pill, Alanis Morisette They have write-ups for them that I am trying to get in case people are interested. |

bakinakwa - It didn't say a ton, but here it is: "With 9 million copies sold in US, this album introduced us to the biggest selling female artist of all time, Mariah Carey. During the begining of the 90s, with the absence of MP3 and piracy, it had its place in nearly every American house. The album includes #1 hits like 'Vision of Love' and 'Love Takes Time'." Don't ask me why a Turkish magazine focused so much on the U.S. |

That Doesn't Say Anything About the Music...
though. It just mentions its commercial success. If one's going to include an album in such a feature, would be nice to reac comments about the music. Amateurish pub.

Michael Jackson's Off the Wall was hardly his debut album. Fallacies in the selections, as well as commentary...

Oh, JR you're just mad Madonna wasn't included. JLP isn't Alanis' debut album either, but most people think of it as her debut. I guess the same is true of Michael Jackson and OFF THE WALL. I have no idea of the journalistic integrity of BLUE JEAN, but I have read that it's the biggest music magazine in Turkey. |

Not at All...
since I don't think Madonna's album is one of the best debut albums ever (strong in its own right and influential, but...) Just as Carey's surely isn't (though it is one of her best albums). Alanis' album is a little different of a scenario than MJ- Alanis' early album(s) wasn't released in the USA (which is the biggest music market), whereas Michael enjoyed solo success before Off the Wall. So to regard Off the Wall as a debut album is very inaccurate. |
