in 2000, the ADF board recognized the stages' importance in bringing crowds and selling merchandise, and gave the stages a budget that could afford Chuck Levell (NARAS HERO AWARD WINNER), Randall Bramblett, Dave Mason, Mother's Finest, Cindy Wilson of the B52s, Billy Joe Shaver, Martha Reeves, Vassar Clements, Shawn Mullins, Jennifer Nettles, Michelle Malone, The Wooten Bros, Derek Trucks, Yon Rico Scott, Col Bruce Hampton, Francine Reed, and so and many more wonderful local and national bands and songwriters. Grammy winners have graced the ADF stages since 2000.
THe Atlanta Dogwood Festival CD ROM 2001-
4 recording crews and a film crew/ film editor along with me directing, voice overs and publishing, we created a CD ROM in 2001 with a full song video of KEVN KINNY singing "The Indian Song" and 9 other audio cuts featuring Jennifer Nettles, Apt Projects (with Jeff Sipe and Ricky Keller), Barry Richman, THREE5HUMAN, and DR Dan.
Lisa Love and The Ga Music Hall of Fame gave the ADF stages creedance when they joined on as ADF sponsor in 2002 and again in 2003-4-5. The volunteers, crew and musicians were the best reasons to wake up and do this every day. There is one board member who has been with the festival longer than me. My mother danced in the VERY FIRST Dogwood Festival 1936, at the age of 6 years old at the FOX theater. Odd coincedence?
Coincedence is god's way of staying anonymous :)
I wish the festival well, and encourage everyone to apply to play and volunteer in 2006.
