Jackson City Officials Phone Numbers
I will try to find the numbers to every official in jackson and post them here if anyone has any post them and us members can at the least show our appreciations for the wonderful job the city has done on the track as well as the GREAT JOB they did to our racing season. As well as I am going to make some calls and see if I can find out from the state if and when the grant was paid. Kevin Claburn 601-315-0918 |

here is a copy of the email I have sent to everyone on the above list plus I have a couple of associates looking into what can be done if they do not have the track finished within 14 days. Dear City Officials, The Mississippi Karting Association has been put on hold and many kids not only from jackson but throughout all of south mississipi has had their racing season took away from them. The city of jackson was giving a grant from the parks and wildlife department to repave our track. In the beginning the city was to have the track repaved before our season was to start. But after many excuses the city finally showed up and ruined the track with poor quality work and did a very bad job that made the track unusable. After many meetings with Mr. North We where told that it would be fixed only to be given more excuses and new dates for the track to be fixed. This has gone on since March and our kids have been deprived of there summer fun. Before I take this public I would like to offer you the city officials a chance to make this right to the kids of Mississippi. We have very little time left for our kids to race this season and We would appreciate you the city officers to look into this for us as well please inform me or you can goto out website forum and at least explain to us why we are being lied to and forgot about. We are tied of excuses and lies. Again PLEASE let us know something. Thank you for your help Kevin Claburn 601-315-0918 www.mississippikarting.com www.claburnracing.com 40 flint ridge purvis, ms. 30475 |

I have tried to stay out of this for as long as I can If you guys keep on the parks and maintenance will not renew the lease to the mka racers next year, then we wont have anywhere to race. I thought we had elected a president Mark and a vice president Kevin to handle these problems The problem can be easily solved you guys want somewhere To race and the city cant get the track done. How about someone calling the City parks and ask if we can set up a track behind the Mississippi stadium. We could spend $300.00 on cones and design what ever type of track we want It would take about 3 hours to set up and dang we could go race They used to do it all the time with cars. You are not going to bully the city of Jackson into doing anything , all you can do is tick them off so we don’t get the track for a couple of years. lets get permission To race in a parking lot somewhere until we can get our track done. no this is not getting our track paved but at least we could race Jmo mikeb |

Mike, Even though I disagree with the tactics to just let them do what they want to do if that is how mark, kevin, or the members of MKA feel I will send an email back to each person I have contacted and state that the majority members of MKA feel that I was in the wronge for sending this above mentioned email and I will say I misrepresented MKA in my statements. However I will no longer be a member and will look into other options for somewhere to race. I for one feel that our racing season was taken for us and my opinions on that will not change. However I will do as I said. So Mark of Kevin if you feel I have misrepresented MKA in the emails I sent out please feel free to call me and let me know. My phone number is 601-315-0918. There will be no bad feelings and if you ever do get a place to race look me back up. Just want to let every member know I only wanted to get the track finished and everyone racing and the way it looks that will not happen this year and that is a shame. |

I to feel that the kids got rob of their summer of racing and fun. The parents also got taken to we all have trailers of equipment that has be sitting all summer. I feel that is a waste of money for it all just to sit there. We waited for the track to get finished for a couple of months, But with just a little more money we started racing dirt. Patrick is having a great time and that is what it is all about. Plus it keeps him busy cleaning the kart and the trailer. I feel that we need to pressure the city also and might need to contact the agency that awarded the grant and get them up to speed on what has happened. They might be able to give some help and put pressure on the city so we aren't doing it directly. I feel the city will still lease the track to the Association. The city wants all the money it can get. Rusty |

Kevin, everyone in the club is disapointed in how things have turned out. If you wish to drop out of the club, I will get Mark to send you back your membership fee. However, I perfer that ya'll stay in the Club. I believe that all your intentions are good and that your families position in the club is valuable. However, it's just that I don't believe the City of Jackson can be bullied. Mark has been staying in touch with John North weekly. If we become to much of a burden, we risk the chance for the City of Jackson not renewing the lease next year. Basically they don't need us we need them. Assuming that the track gets repaved this summer, maybe we can pick up some more dates and the Season want be a total loss. I personally don't believe that e-mailing back the city officals is necessary. Please understand that Mark and I have been trying our best to get this resolved. E-mailing the City officals at this point could hinder our relationship with the City. |

Kevin I respect what you are saying and I will stay out of it. I do not want my money back. I know that there is nothing you or mark can really do but wait for the city. However I will say this and this is the last comment yall will hear from me. There was many options the club could have done to keep somewhere for the kids to race this summer. We might not could have kept all the dates but most could have been kept. If getting with the city and finding a parking lot to maby going to rebel or as I had offered before gulf oaks. But nothing at all was done. That part was not jacksons fault it was ours. We had just as much blame in not making arrangements for the kids to have somewhere else to race as anyone. This may make someone mad but I dont sugarcoat nothing and I tell it strait no matter what. Like Rusty we also have purchased some dirt karts and have had fun on dirt but MKA has a regional series on WKA's website that needed to be upheld and it has not been. I will let this be known also there was other paving companies that would have done the job for the grant money if the city could not have taken care of it. This whole ordeal went bad because of very poor planning. |

Maybe next year the new officers will do a better job. Of course there may not be any members left to oversee. |

Kevin in no way am I saying it was your fault I consider myself to blame because I didnt push the issue in the beginning. It was every MKA adult members fault for not calling a meeting and getting this taken care of in whatever way whether it be moving races or whatever. Those of us that think this is worth saving needs to get together and try to put something together for all our kids. I have 7 karts here ready to put kids in and I had 5 kids ready to go. Its my fault I didnt make sure they had somewhere to go race. To me its worth saving so I for one would like to ask you and mark to call a meeting so we can put something together. If any other members would like this as well PLEASE SPEAK UP because it your opinions that need to be heard as well. That way we can all be in a room together and not have to put it on a public forum. |

We definitely don't need to upset the folks down in Jackson. Like someone else said, they don't need us - WE need them. Mike's idea of getting some cones and setting them out behind the stadium is not so bad an idea. Why, I can remember when we were little, my Dad and us used to build a track on Sundays (back when the stores closed on Sundays) in the parking lot with cones, so I can definitely relate to that. Hey, since the city has kind of put us out of racing, maybe we could call someone down there and get their sympathy by letting us use that area behind the stadium. I'd bet they'd even provide us with cones to borrow. At least it's something! |

WOW!!! I too agree we do not need to "air our dirty laundry" on the forum. My only request is that if you post something you have ALL the facts in order. There are a lot of things that are being said that are making people mad that are not exactly all correct. ALL of the Officers have e-mails listed....shoot us one and we will answer any questions you have without it being public knowledge. I am not objective to the members having a meeting but I think the main issue is that NEVER has anyone been told they could not race anywhere else they wanted. We may stand alone on this...but the officers agreed that as a CLUB, where we have our rules, insurance, etc. we should race as a CLUB at Springridge Raceway. (that does not mean you can not race elsewhere) I do not feel that I or any other adult MKA member has let my child or any other child down on this issue. I for one have seen the hard work over the years that the MKA leadership and parents have put in. Over the past 4 years I have seen all the "blood, sweat and tears" that have gone into keeping this Club going by EVERY member. NONE of us wanted to see our racing season inturrupted but I also feel that NONE of us should be blamed. Lets keep it positive....we are still a racing "family" |

Kevin has a good idea. Lets come together as an Association and put our head together to come up with a solution. Mike had a great idea of racing on the fair grounds parking area. You never know it might be good for the Association. With a little advertising we might draw more people into kart racing. I did know it was in the Jackson area until a little over a year ago when I was talking about racing with a friend of mine in the Delta and they told me about Adventure and then I found out about the MKA. We have a great group of kids and adults that need to get back to racing and fellowship some where. |

I think that the work on the track has to be done and aproved before the grant can be paid in full, so if they have not done the job wright the city should not be paid yet. |

(that does not mean you can not race elsewhere) Sonya this statement leads me to belive that maybe the officers got together and agreed on something without members being notified. I for one have never heard of a meeting. I am a paying member and should have had a choice to set in on this meeting. And also racing somewhere else does not help divisional races nor our club. I hope that I am reading something into this that is not there. Also I have sent out many emails and the only person that has ever returned one to me was Kevin Byars and Kevin I thank you for that. |

Well...Claburn and I worked out our misunderstanding and all is well. To clarify for all members...there was no "meeting of the officers", just numerous phone conversations where racing somewhere else was discussed. The miscommunication was because we were against racing somewhere else and the club paying to lease a track... However...Claburn and I have clarified our misunderstanding and we are working to see if we can come up with a solution to get these kids RACING!!! Thanks for all your input Claburn! |
