Don't know for how many days you are staying but last time I went to Venice with my children i rented an appartement. Since you are going in February you should book early. Carnival is in February you
know :-). Since Venice is so very special, seeing it will give them a memory for life. Offcourse you have to show them them main tourist attracions.. San Marco square, take them up to the bell Tower to look at the view, feed the birds on San Marco, go for a gondola ride, go to see the Rialto bridge. The area around Rialto is were people first settled down in Venice. Marco Polo lived here, his house is still here to be found. A cheap way to see Venice from a boat is to take a tour with some of the many "vaporettos" - waterbus. To take a look inside the Palazzo Ducale to take a look at the place were they did put the prisoners can be exiting. If you need some advice when in Venice you will find the tourist office on left when walking towards the lagoon from San Marco.
