awful!!
i want to emphasise how disgusted with this site i was. i paid 500 pounds for one week in a 6th birth in august, to be greeted with, blood, urine and vomit stained cussions and mattreses, only 2 bedrroms , a third was to be made up with a mdf plank in between to benches in the living area, several fights kicked off with widows of caravans and cars getting smashed!there were foot proints on the wall, ceiling and windows, the bins were not emptied, very unhelpful staff!the pool was full of teenagers groping each other and didnt seem to be ever cleaned!the area was also not plaesing with used condoms and underwer on the roadside. |

Our group had a horrific experience with this campsite. When I originally booked the “pitch” over the phone the man on the other end had been very polite and took a deposit of £104 by card. We were taking a large tent, the type with a large central area and 4 bedroom compartments for 6 of us and I made sure to double check that this would be ok as I know that some campsites would not take it but was assured that this would be fine as they had a large camping field with no set pitch size. We had to drive 7 hours to get to Newquay and paid a further £290 on arrival however when we drove over to the “field” it was in fact a patch of land in the centre of the static caravans more like a vegetable patch than a field. The ground was like that of a landfill site with stones covering every inch and rubbish trodden into the dirt everywhere. The ground was sloping; there was barely a patch of grass to be seen. We were expected to fit our tent into a tiny space and everyone had been so crammed in that guy ropes were crossing all over the place and there was defiantly no way anyway could have sat outside their tent on a nice day, people had even squeezed themselves onto small scraps of ground by toilet and utility blocks. I immediately decided we couldn’t stay and still enjoy the holiday we had spent over £400 on so went next door to see if they would take us then went back to reception to ask for our money back. The man at reception became immediately evasive asked for out reasons and kept telling us he hadn’t the authority to give a refund. Eventually after persistence we got him to phone the owner who we had to wait for to call back outside the reception building. During this time, the man on reception singled me out as I was the only girl among the group, took me over to the camping patch and as I made my points tried to intimidate me into backing down asking “What stones?”, “It’s a site for young people, what do you expect?” and “Where else do you think you’re going to go”. Eventually I began to cry at which point he told me to “Stop being abusive”. Eventually we returned to reception and I told him that taking young people was o excuse to run a sub-standard site. He returned inside and emerged 5 minutes later slamming £290 on the picnic bench and cutting off the plastic wristbands we had been expected to wear the entire time. We were told to send a letter if we wanted our deposit back which we have still yet to receive and I frankly doubt we will. Our holiday was much improved when we moved to the Smugglers Haven next door, an 18+ site…with grass! |
