Review

Just been to Swallow Tree and stayed in one of their pine lodges. The site is in a good location near to Saudersfoot and just a few miles from Tenby. Everything is on a slope so if you have kids in pushchairs beware as there are some steps to navigate. Noticed that those with caravans were perched at some interesting angles on a steep slope.

The lodge is clean and tidy although looking tired on the outside, as some of the others were, kitchen equipment is best described as basic and not 'good quality' as the owners suggest. Sky package was nice but not essential. Take everything with you apart from bed linen as thats all you are given. So rent a van and bring all that you need - washing up liquid, loo roll, kitchen roll, a sharp knife etc etc!

For the same week in September I could have rented a house in Cornwall for £100 less and it would be better equiped, see www.helpfulholidays.com for proof. South Wales needs to wake up to tourism a bit more and try to compete with the South West as its been knocked for six in my view. I'm in no hurry to return to Swallow Tree or SW Wales.

Re: Review

I agree with you John,

Spent most of the abismal British Summer last year Camping and Caravanning in the Dorset and Cornwall areas relying mainly on amenities as the frequent bad weather meant you could not often enjoy outdoor pool facilities or just sitting by your van/tent enjoying the sun. Did not enjoy 4 out of the 4 sites we stayed at remember i am commenting on sites not Dorset and Cornwall as places. I have not named them, to be frank this review would be pages long if i did. On the other hand we stayed at a lovely small site in Cenarth Falls in West Wales, and it was fresh and clean with up to date shower block, great outdoor pool, large on site pub restaurant and fantastic local scenery. So in agreement with John you should not be so negative about Wales......am i to say that because of my experiences that England needs to Catapult itself into modern camping times? drab sites, dirty shower blocks arn't native to wales....i should know. How can you comment on the the whole of South Wales when you are have only reviewed 1 Saundersfoot Site? You obviously dont have a clue. Dont let this guy put you off Campers! Wales has fantastic Scenery, Culture, well worth a visit.
