if it is not velvet investigate the possibility that it may be a secondary infection. fungus looks like a thick moldy growth and attack dead tissue only. fungus take over once the primary cause of disease has advanced leaving dead tissue behind. many bacterial diseases call for antibiotic treatment and are usualy the main cause fungus has moved in.perhaps antibiotic treatment with MarOxy or ive read methylene blue or mercurochrome.if it is a viral condition such as lymphocystis, (which start off like ick and end up looking like cauliflower like bumps, its not treatable and if left be the fish may get eventually get over it. hope i helped beth |
