Re: About keytar... (shoulder keyboards)

Hi Alex!

I own Roland AX-1 key-guitar and it is so funny to play! AX-7 is the new model but basically it is the same thing. Of course, the approach is different than a standard keyboard, you have to do a training for a few weeks to get the maximum from this "soloist" instrument. Then you will enjoy it! As you know, I played "MY DEAR CHOPIN" on Roland AX-1, then "HANDS OF FIRE", "ADAGIO IN G MINOR" and other impro and solos... absolutely fantastic to get some articulations and phrases impossible on standard keyboards. Primarily, try and be familiar with controls on left hand: modulation, ribbon and sustain. These controls will improve your playing and expressiveness so much!

About “MY DEAR CHOPIN”, it is a good stuff to try and check AX-7, especially if you try to play something I recorded on the new improvisation that you find on my website http://www.mistheria.com/sounds.html

Note that the theme of this songs is played with “tapping technique” , I mean: keep down the middle note and play the others… E.g.: on the first chord (Db), keep down F key and articulate Db and Ab keys. So on…

For expressiveness, try to play “ADAGIO IN G MINOR”…

I’m working on my instructional DVD, I hope to release it before June 2006. It will show all techniques I use and a chapter will be dedicated to Roland AX key-guitar…

I hope this help… let’s start playing bro! ;-)

Sincerely,
Mistheria

Re: About keytar... (shoulder keyboards)
